I may be reading your opener wrong and you've already said (too much stress right now for me, not reading well, heh) ......... you were taking the pic of the rainbow, did you then notice the object in question at the time of the pic, or was that not until you got the pic to the PC?

Also, did you or anyone else notice another object to the direct left of the large obvious object?

And specifically to the OP - don't sweat the "I can't believe you don't know how!", people are quick to forget that at one time when THEY got on the Interwebbythingy, they never knew what the hell a pic upload site was. I guess with some folks it's in their DNA er sumpin, that all functions of a computer and the 'net are automatic knowledge.

But, OP, do realize, there really has been a rash of, well, absolutely ridiculous claims lately, some with proposterous photos (like attic fans) being claimed as UFO's.

Hey there I was rather surprised when I saw the pic. This looks I would say exactly like what I saw two nights ago on a camping trip. Last night on ats someone saw something that sounded similar so I posted what I had seen. I'll toss up a link to that thread I think you should have a look at it. My story is a few posts down in it.

Link

Hope that works I haven't ever posted a link before.

Looks weird, like its stuck onto the picture in photoshop or the lense itself, Im going with photoshop though. I can't prove it but having used photoshop since 1997..somethings not right. Another bogus entry. Just my opinion calm down

Ok you posted the pic now, I see it thanks.

Too bad you got the date wrong on the camera because it does make it cause for suspician. I haven't checked the properties yet, and some will check in greater detail.

Anyways what I see, if it's a real pic, is possibly a fireball or meteorite? I saw one a couple of weeks ago, it was dark out. It looked similar to your flying object, went very fast, lasting 3 seconds, but the trail was much longer, very bright white with a bit of orange on it's edges. Would have been a shorter trail had I not seen it from start to finish. I submitted the sighting to american meteor society or whatever it was called. They added it to their list. They want trajectory, degrees, maginitude, time and location etc.

Anyways just an idea as to what it might have been. I'd never seen one before and in a way it looked like some exploding craft. But I didn't see it explode and it left no sonic boom. It was strange to see, because about a week earlier I'd seen two lights, that I believe were in fact a Ufo(s)

EDIT

Now that I got a better look at your pic, it doesn't have a flaming trail like I saw, so scratch the fireball idea. It does look like a smudge.

Not really. Exif has become a almost a non-thought anymore, considering that there are EXIF editors on the market, including freeware, to edit all fields of EXIF - including the date.

edit = gawd my figners juuuust don't wanna work tonight !!

I apreciate all of your comments, It is what I wanted to get, which is your opinions, I can ask for no more than that. I realize that this subject has been damaged because of hoaxers and we must all be diligant to expose these items, a small part of me laughs and thinks, that if aliens came down , landed in outlandishly technological craft and parked on the lawns of ATS users, and then manifested a purple donkey with pink pokodots out of his ass, most of the skeptics would still be in denial.. I kinda feak feel a little sorry for some, cheers

I normally try to stay reserved with expressing thoughts in this realm. I was just thinking the same diddly thing. It would be written off a gorilla marketing.

If there are beings from other stars have been coming here forever and are more advanced in all aspects, why wouldn't/couldn't they be walking among us, reading and responding to this thread, right now? As it is said, the truth is stranger than fiction.

Forgive me if you've answered this but where were you when you took the photo? Inside or outside?

Hey there all. I know a lot of people say this looks like a fake and I have to admit I would probably agree on this photo if not for what I had seen two nights earlier, refering to link I posted earlier. And when I saw that one, as I was seeing it and after the fact I was left thinking what could that have been. It really didn't look right when I saw mine almost like watching it on a film and thinking that looks fake. But the fact is I did see it whatever it was, now I don't necessarily think it was a ufo but it was something there.
We could continue to just discount this and not contribute anything but I think most of us can be above that and come up with some pluasable explinations. One suggestion I saw offered was possible comet. I can't speak for the other two accounts but I can say without a doubt what I saw was not a comet. And while the one I saw was moving fast in the sky it wasn't moving fast enough to leave a tail. If the other two accounts are true then that would be three all within 3 days. At least two were in california. And all described the same orb looking thing which isnt exactly the common ufo. I know many ufo sighting are called orbs but those tend to be very bright and this looked like I said before, one of those pics where a piece of dust is is tried to be played off as a spirit. Anyways I would love to find out what this really was and somehow I believe that there is a reasonable explination for it I just haven't been able to find one yet.

The more I look at the image, the more I would like to believe that it is indeed an orb of some kind. However with it having been a rainy day, I cant help but suspect that it is merely a drop of water on the lens. Until the OP can confirm where they were when they took the photo, I will keep an open mind as to what he has managed to capture in this photo.
