Alien Does Not Equal Better

Aliens have become the new religion (to some).

Assuming extra-terrestrials exist and are present on our planet, I would like to point out that they are not necessarily more kind or more spiritual (or more violent for that matter) than humans.

I’ve heard the argument that any civilization that is technologically advanced enough to traverse the galaxy must be spiritually advanced as well. I find that argument ridiculous. Using this planet as an example, technological advancement has been very much fueled by the desire to find better ways to kill and destroy. Who is to say that they’re not here because they blew up their home planet in a giant war?

And how did we begin to think of aliens as beings of ultimate positivity? Last time I checked most abduction reports consisted of entities sneaking into people’s homes while they slept, abducting them and raping them (for scientific or spiritual advancement of course), then returning them to their homes only after erasing their memories. Count me out, thanks.

I’m not saying that an alien race introduced to this planet couldn’t be a positive event. A new civilization could mean new technologies that solve many of our planet’s problems. Possibly free energy and gravity-free transportation. A new culture could bring new forms of art and new ways of looking at our existence.

A new civilization could also bring with it new wars and new oppressive establishments.

What a new civilization will not bring is gods and ascended masters that will somehow magically evolve us spiritually. People seem to be waiting for the aliens to come down and save us. Well guess what people? It’s not going to happen. We’re going to have to save ourselves, or not. Our choice.
