When Sex Is Not as Private as You Expect

He says he was told to plead guilty and did so to avoid a harsher punishment that would have come had Giles pled innocent and then been found guilty. Afterward, his employer fired him.

"When I lost my job over it my wife was so upset and distraught and distressed that she had a major heart attack," said Giles, whose wife died shortly after ABC News interviewed him.

"Right now, it's just about destroyed my life."

Another man, also named by the police, committed suicide.

Entrapment, maybe... but exposing yourself in a park is never a good idea. At least that is one of the rules I try to live by.

I guess that I'm not shocked by this. Entrapment...well...the legal eagles have made that a very fine line haven't they?

What a joke.

It's a victimless crime that has been going on since the dawn of time.

BUT....

There is money to be made in these bull# sting operations.

As usual, it's all about the dollars.

good rule to live by. It doesn't effect my life if some guy wonders into a park at night and no ones around and sees a hot topless woman wanting him. I'd personally never fall for it, because things that good, just don't happen.

I would rather the police seek out child molesters and rapists.

I would hardly call this a 'War on Sex'. More like a police sting to end indecent exposure, sexual conduct, and inappropriate behavior in parks - the places where children play. Nothing says family fun like finding a used condom Saturday morning under the jungle gym from Friday night. "Mommy, what's that funny balloon?"

p.s. It's legal in Ontario for women to be topless anywhere a man can be topless. But it's not legal for anyone to be bottomless.

I don't want to seem to belittle your opinion, but maybe that's when the parent could explain The Birds & The Bees to their child. Also, maybe there should be a campaign encouraging people who have sex in public places to clean up their rubbish...although that's possibly an unrealistic prospect for an American city, unfortunately (I'm American, but left in the 90's).

I live in South Auckland, New Zealand. Prostitution is legal here. I live a block away from the township where the prostitutes offer their services, but, unfortunately (for people like me), it's not unusual to see used condoms in the gutter in front of my house (where the deal is done)...it's pretty disgusting, and I've had to explain the situation to my child when they've asked about "the funny balloon" (I've pretty successfully tried to avoid lying to my child about anything). Granted, I don't exactly live at a park.

But entrapment for (apparent) consentual adult sex, and arresting people for it seems like busy-work to me...and a misallocation of resources.

Maybe I don't know about what things are like in your country anymore, but, where I live, police are seriously stretched, dealing with domestic abuse, gang-related violence, methamphetamine problems, et cetera.

But maybe you're right.
