All Predictions are good until December 31st, 2008:

propositions, listed in order of probably outcomes:

A) Date of an Israeli only strike.

B) Date of a US only strike.

C) Israel and the United States take no action by the 12-31-2008.

D) Strike only after Iranian provocative action (list the action such as an attack on our fleet) - n.b. Lailat al Miraj in 2008 is on Thursday, the 31st of July.

E) Date of a combined strike.

I say the Israelis will strike around August 20th, 2008.

I'd go with an Israeli air-strike on the nuke facilities within 3 months..leads to escalation of hostilities and a western strike force assault during winter.. It's just too blummin hot to consider it now.

It's even warm in UK at the minute..

i applaud that you said strike on Iran as I believe Iran is just flapping its wings

i think itll be US who commence in this war, which is sad to say, or somehow deep Iran will be forced into it as something will be blamed on them that isnt really from them

I think ahminajed (sp?) isnt so war mongering as he portrays, he just wants to instill fear as a fierce opponent rather than want to kill

its a total fukked situation

Actual provocation or fabricated provocation, because, well, that could be a combination of almost all of your options there, just depending.

I think there will be something before 2009, probably sooner rather than later, but the media isn't at the necessary fever pitch yet for something to happen..

I have a theory that basically you can gauge probable outcomes, and general truths by paying a sort of frequency based attention to the news. I stick to getting my news from 4 sources - CNN on satellite radio, a general news catcher site, where I only read the links that show up on the front page, ATS, and information clearinghouse. I find that stories tend to propagate through, usually from conspiracy heavy to conspiracy free, but you can sort of generalize what's going on in terms of foreign policy by who the media is focused on at the moment.. It's just a theory, but my prediction is probably some sort of "iranian provocation" or pseudo provocation, and I'll say probably the last half of august/first half of sept.

Predict the strike on Iran

IMO:

That is about as classless as the bit about predicting when Britney Spears would commit suicide. This isn't predicting an earthquake, a natural event, in the hopes someone would be helped by it; nor is it predicting the end of the world, because that's what humans have always done. This is all but short of taking wagers for when 10's, if not 100's, of thousands of humans will die from war.

I think it's entirely possible there simply won't be any strike by the end of the year. The Iranians believe all this talk about a strike is a bluff -- an effort to psych them out and get concessions on their nuclear program. We've been hearing about a strike on Iran since 2005, and in most cases the rumors were that it was imminent, within two months or so. It hasn't happened yet.

However...

I think if it does happen it would be the Israeli Air Force after the U.S. Elections in November. The "rumor" has it that the Israelis would want to strike soon after the election if Obama won because Bush would support it until he elft office. If McCain won, they might hold off for a few more months.

I'm sure the U.S. could arrange some kind of "Gulf of Tomkin" incident to justify an attack, but I would think that would have already happened. Maybe not. Or maybe they're working on some totally brilliant false flag attack on the U.S. or U.S. interests that would be very difficult to prove was phony.

But I still think there's an excellent chance there won't be an attack before the end of the year.

(A) NEVER
(B) NEVER
(C) NEVER
(D) NEVER
(E) NEVER

It's all Republican political spin to keep fear of terrorism in the minds of American voters. If this happens, then I will gladly resign my account here on ATS!

C ) Not until at least Jan-09.
They were getting ready to do an earlier bombing because they were not sure
if Obama was going to fall in line with the Neo-Cons.
Now that he has sworn allegiance to the New World Order and proclaimed it at
the Shrine of Hitler, they can wait a while.
Fist they have to get their Banks all taken care of.
Then they can go ahead and reduce the world to rubble.

reading your comment i had a thought

what if it isnt til next year, and then Obama (most likely elected) is FORCED to make a decision and then its all downhil from there, who knows?

i still think Iran will not make first move

Just had another thought to add...this is no different than the "cold war". A lot of talk and no action...we all fear nuclear winters...Iran included...this war will just never happen. PERIOD!

If you think it will never happen, that Iran is so fearful of the consequences of a nuclear war that they will never ever attack - or defend if attacked, then why does everyone care so much whether they have nuclear weapons or not? We already allow so many nations to have them (as if we in the US are the deciders who get to say which kids play and which don't), so who cares if Iran has weapons that they're too afraid to use?

Your logic doesn't really play out, imo, mate.

I don't know how anyone can knock predicting war with Iran and support the prediction of the end of the world on the basis it "has always been done". They are pretty much the same thing aren't they?

Rape is also a fine tradition, and there are too many others to mention.
I don't think they should get a free pass on the Grandfather Clause.

Iran will attack a couple of ships, provoking a response. It will escalate tensions. A few too many rockets will be fired at Israel and you will not know exactly who started it or when. It will just be there, freeform escalating on a daily basis, untill one day you wake up and people notice it is already out of control.

That's just the thing, they know they are being pegged as warmongers, so they must pretend it does not matter to them, generate a "terrorist attack" thereby "manufacturing [our] consent" as the Chomsky-borrowed line goes. Any day now... They are playing the cards perfectly. I'm sure on the most lame media day there will be another event.

Here's a good prediction.

Making a strike on Iran all the more pressing for Israel. And as we’ve been informed, it will likely start around April next year, from whence it will escalate “slowly, slowly” into a full scale global conflagration

We repeat: we’ve been reliably informed that the shooting will only begin in April next year. From there it will escalate: “slowly, slowly” we are told, until it becomes a full-on global clash involving Israel, Iran, the U.S., Russia and China too

So by April next year we all know were pretty much dead meat if you trust this. Or at least it's the beginning of our end. Or maybe it's just the war that wraps up this conflict.

Who cared if Russia had weapons that they were too afraid to use? The US sure was, but nothing ever came about from that cold war. You can't have a perpetual stand of w/o both sides having equally destructive threats. Iran wants the nuclear weapons so they have leverage. The US does not want Iran to develop nuclear weapons because that would take the US's leverage away.

Your logic doesn't really play out, imo, mate.

This whole thing is a big diversion, and the media is also part of this poker game, together with the other jokers in the pack....there is an agreement on the table with all parties concerned, including Iran...that we need a new enemy in the oil region who will be made to look like a Bad Guy and is capable of disrupting the Oil Flow, so that they can always screw the ratchet every now and again, to raise the Price of Oil....Iran is TOOOO happy with this deal, because they are truly for the first time enjoying this Poker Games with High Oil Prices and they know that all they have to do is just to play the Bad Guy, together with their Bogey Boys....Hezbullah and Hamas to Drum the Drums and make lovely Sounds. This is how the new Poker Games is now being played....The Stakes have gone up and the small players have long disappeared.

Have you actually been listening to what Ahmadinejad has been saying? Do you know that the Shiite cult that he belongs to was banned under Khomeini?

Ahmadinejad believes that "the end of the world" would uncover the Hidden Imam. Do you really want someone who believes that to have a large nuke?

Israel has gone and done it on their own in Iraq before. Russia don't care about Iran enough to do squat to us. They may try to directly do something to Israel but that would only bring a swift response from us. Israel will not attack anyone while the Olympics are ongoing because their athletes would be taken into custody in China and they would not risk that, Besides thats not their style.

Israel may hit Iran before the end of the year especially if there is a large natural disaster in China like predicted.

Iran does not want war but they want respect from the U.S. so that means that they want us to talk to them and we should. Iran wants to be like the U.S. and they will get it one way or the other. They want to have their sphere of influence like we have over here. We don't want anyone playing in our Hemisphere and neither do they.

They do not want to be pushed around by the Arabs and neither do we. We should work things out with them and then kick the ever loving crap out of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia with their help. Iran just wants to have a say of what goes on in A-stan and Iraq as they do in Lebanon and Syria.

They have already took southern Iraq by force and are stealing about 200,000 barrels of oil a day from Basra.

If Bush starts to talk with Iran only great things could come of it. I think the Saudis attacked us to begin with to stop us from warming relations up with them like we had been doing before 9/11. Pray that Obama gets into office because he knows all of this and this is the path he will take.
