nice list of songs anyway

question:
if an artist provides a song dealing with space, ufos, stars etc.

does it mean that the artist belives in such stuff? does he elaborates own experiences (or maybe just the author of the song) or maybe it is just a hype?
i am not sure about it!

Thanks a lot Crakeur for all the infos about the Bowie songs, which were my absolute favs at that time!!

The very 1st concert I've ever joined was a gig of his Serious moonlight tour, back in '82.
You've made my day as ur post made me taking out my old vinyl discs
and I listened again to songs like Space oddity, Starman, Life on mars? etc.
I was too young by then to get the lyrics and their full meaning completely but catched up on them now - amazing, so thanks again!

So, in my case it seems the combination = celebs/ufo wasn't that much helpful to raise my deeper interest or understanding for this topic or to lead more of my attention on it.

But nowadays I pretend to be a bit older & wiser...
and I dare to guess that it can never be "dangerous" to extend one's knowledge.
If the broadening of one's mind was originally prompted by a celebs' interest - why not?
It all just shouldn't have too much of an influencing "mission", as the word of a celeb can sometimes be very powerful on unstable people who see the celeb still as their kind of God and take their idol as an example for themselves.
But this wasn't the case at all in here, right?

I just find it sad to see that media often perverts such in principle exciting interests and just tries to turn it into something ridiculous, that one even finds a need to rectify certain points.

Hi darlin,

thanks for for your 'lol'

To be honest I can not really put into words what I wanted to tell ... I just know I needed a laugh on this evening and came around this thread on a search for 'distraction' (or 'destruction') ? I would not speek about calculation bc life itself is quite incalculable and much rather more about 'transformations, definitions, sentences, proof and symbolism' (staying in a mathematical context) ... I often use the visible world of forums and threads to get lost and bring my mind into another direction, so that the answer to the important questions can be found through some kind of backdoor of the mind ...

So sometimes when I enter the place between the thoughts, the space between the words and letters ... (like I did with the post I quoted) ... some other structures start to appear ... transformations beyond every feeling of fear (fear/vier/'....' ?!?) symbols my heart does understand ... behind the logic my mind wants to pretend.

On a more serious note ... I guess I was just applying one of my favorite quotation:

*** The task is not so much to see what no one yet has seen, but to think what no body yet has thought about that which everyone sees.
* (Arthur Schopenhauer) ***

Anyway.

@ serin sister
thanks for your nice and inspiring words too ... good luck with getting the questions answerd

@skept!cal
you really started a funny thread and I totally agree with your comment about bringing up 'insightful stuff'

So comming back to the very first post in this thread, as I can't help and find this is going more and more off topic.

1) Will this+ bring on more favorable conversation w/ the whole UFOLOGY field?
[this+ = the mentioning of UFOLOGY in the context with celebrities in the NOW magazine]

For me it doesn't matter what field of interest this branch of papers write about, it will always have a 99% tendency to not be true and not become serious ... so I guess UFOLOGY could become the science and belief in UFO[O]LY through such happenings.

Meaning:
- makin fools out of people who are serious UFOLOGY researchers,
- creating a foolish image of the celebrities involved and
- making again fools out of the readers/fans who have participated in discussions and speculation about the gossip

Especially and as long as the people involved in the article have not clarified the facts (what seems quite seldom) and when parts or all of it turn out to be lies.

2) Will it furthur more bring us into the depths of humility?

3) Im just really trying to grasp if this will help or hurt our community?

2)+3) I'm to lazy to write something concerning that now ... maybe later, but last but not least:

@chrisonabike
I highly appreciate that you made the decision to clarify the gossip here.
To be honest I was very often wondering why with todays technologies, were every child can put up a blog, website, join a forum, have an email, etc., the people mentioned in the papers do not have the interest, guts and/or whatever ... to correct the stories written about them, especially when they are totally made up.
Of course it's a very sensitive point as the media are also always the medium for transporting your work and interests to the masses, but if it keeps people stupid, does feed them permanent lies and makes them busy with chatting about complete non-sense ... I see it as a total waste of precious resources in many ways.
And as you are a carrier of 'prior knowledge', as you called it in this case here ...
Wouldn't it be an idea to ask some other people on your side of the 'fence' to build up a place for corrections to read for their 'fans'? Or Methaphorically speaking about some 'fans' that create a wind of change to the actual source of information.

True to the motto:

Keep your eyes and ears open for the NEW because you never kNOW what they kNEW!?
lol

Hi
You got a lot of good points there, to sort things out. Thanks

Well about the Robbie Williams fans at ATS. Of course it leads people to ask questions about our sanity. Did they join here to stalk R.W ? If they are into this UFO topic, how can we believe them, if they are R.W fans at the same time ? Did they get brainwashed by R.W or other famous people ? Is this someone who hides that she/he is really a RW fan trying to get in contact with him ? Do they just pretend they already was into this before ? Are they using a famous persons name to make people listen to their own beliefs in this subject ? No matter what, people will always ask and answer the question themself or dont believe the answer you give to them and make up another answer.
I would rather stay away for all these reasons. But i thougt that it can not be right that you can not join a forum because you are a fan of Robbie Williams. Or that you can, but not make any posts anywhere regarding Robbie Williams's experiences "in his own words" was closed when i found it. Only god knows why
. According to some books about RW, and other "signs" along the road he seems to have always had this interest. Its not something people just get in a split of a second. Or
Maby if you see something like this
sorry

I am proud of Robbie Williams, very proud

Try and please everyone and you will please no one...

It`s fun reading on one hand and makes me think on the other hand.

I have been turning the subject of this thread over and over in my mind, but somehow I don`t get it. *shame on me*

I don`t understand what is so special about celebrities talking about their attitude towards ufos etc., well...okay, when they speak out, the public´s interest is bigger than in another position told by anybody else. But in the end we are all human beings (are we....?) and we talk about our thoughts, feelings, scares and about our opinon on ufology or our experiences.
I think it`s the human being and his/her attitude what counts and not if someone is well known or not.

Maybe it`s even harder for people who are in the focus of interest...dunno...

Isn't it alot about to find the TRUTH
(about Aliens/UFOs, Sightings, Pictures, 9/11, etc. -in context to the subject of the threads) here on ATS ?!?
At least this is the way I see it.

So Long, and Thanks for All The

... yes you are right, we are all human beings who talk about our thoughts and experiences and beliefs. But it's natural that when a very well known person speaks about HIS/HER beliefs and thoughts our attention is greater.... simply because a well known person generally stands for somenthing, he/she represents somenthing for us... so our interest is natural... I think that there is nothing strange about this. .. and for those who love a specific celeb what counts it's surely the HUMAN BEING which is beside the "public person"... the human being that can come out when that person speaks about his PERSONAL beliefs and experiences... So it is the search for the human being that moves our interest when a known person opens his heart, as RW did.

Yeah, this might be right.
From my point of view everyone is alike, maybe that`s why I forgot to see this topic from another point of view.
If you like the celeb who talks/writes about his very personal sight on an subject, the whole things gaines meaning in different ways.
Hm....let`s say you are a massive fan of chrisonabike, how do you feel reading his own words here?
(if you don`t mind asking)

I think if you are a massive fan of crisonabike (what about that name???) you probably cant review all he said objectively. i dont know, but as a fan you might tend to be too emotional on what he said in either way - because of that you probably think fatser than others "i love it" or "I hate it". I do not mean that offending to any crisonabike-fan. I just think that is normal human emotional behaviour.

I am not a fan of crisonabike (i am pretty neutral towards him) and for me it is just another interesting ufo-experience i get to know because of his popularity. like i said before, this thread did not make any sense to me at the beginning too, but through hearing from celebritys who had experiences, you can draw conclusions to what may have happend to a lot other people.

This might seem like a really stupid comment but surely it makes no difference whether the thread started/poster is a 'celeb' or not (I use the word loosely since thos can range from A-Z in the UK!)

Most of those in the public eye get slated if they comment on anything away from the norm but isn't that the same for mere mortals too?

No crumbles on the floor of the dark side please...

@ abstrusenumber1

You are right on that - but I suppose there won`t be an article on page one about me talking about something I experienced besides the norm. You know...I won`t make the news with it but someone famous with the same news would def do.

Think, this is the difference.

You are right again... !! Ehm... it's beautiful to read what your favourite celeb write and thinks... it's exciting.... simply because you feel closer to HIM for a little .... !!! Then reading about his experiences is a way to "know" him better ... It's a wonderful feeling ...
