Did Rockefeller really deceive us into our oil dependency? This is new to me but maybe not to some of you out there, especially across the pond, so sorry if i'm regurgitating old news.

Apparently, John D Rockefeller quashed the use of alcohol as fuel, which the early fords were often run on, in favour of gasoline by paying off congress back in 1908 to introduce prohibition, thus killing off the apparently cheap and environmentally clean alcohol fuel and leaving himself with no competition.

Like i said, this might be old hat, i did a search but couldn't find owt and sorry if i'm seeing too much in this, but it's news to me.

I'm going to have a look around for info on the alcohol as fuel thing in the UK.
