In order to enforce the seriousness of the U.S.-EU position against Iran with the threat of serious sanctions Debka reports a dozen warships from the U.S.-UK-France and a Brazilian frigate began ten days of maneuvers Monday in the Atlantic off the U.S. coast to practice the blockading of Iran’s coast in the Strait of Hormuz.

The exercises have been called "Operation Brimstone" and are lead by the USS Theodore Rooselvelt Carrier Strike group and the USS Iwo Jima Expedtionary Strike Group which carries ground forces trained in operating in shallow coastal-littoral waters and the seizure of islands like the ones in the Strait of Hormuz, Qeshm for example. The narrow island is about fifty miles long and just a few miles off Bandar Abbas believed to be the headquarters of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and the small islands in the strait are manned by Revolutionary Guard Marines. Wow, i didn't know that. Geez, i guess thats a uh, spoil of war? We will see, i just can not see how Iran wouldn't strike us considering this is an act of war! No way you cut it, you blockade= act of war.

They picked the right name for the operation. Brimstone sounds prophetic.

I don't think they really comprehend the potential outcome. Instead of a hundred year holy war. They can get the 1 hour version with the same body count.

The blockcade is meant to protect Oil tankers going through the Strait of Hormuz.

The US and/or Israel must intend on taking out Iran's Nuclear facilities soon.

A senior Iranian officer warned that if the West continues to threaten Iran's economy ove its nuclear program, Teheran will discontinue the flow of oil via the Strait of Hormuz, Israel Radio reported Monday.

According to the officer, 40% of the world's oil is transferred through the strait, and the world is dependent on Iran for a source of energy and a stable economy.

The war drums have been sounding for some time now, but this brings them to a thunderous crescendo. The further this goes, the more I’m convinced that the long planned third great war is upon us.

So is this actually going to go down soon? Or will we still be debating this a year from now, like we were last year and the year beforehand?

Well it seems the U.S. while having its own agenda is watching out for the world. Protect the oil!

Also these Iranians are still primitive and would rather say its mine or nobdys... so.

Operation Brimstone I hope is a success. I wonder if it would be ethical to dump a sleep agent over all of Iran and just kick out the crazies over night. Uproot Austrailia give them Iran and let all the crazies duke it out on Austraillia. Thats my idea of a Utopia

I've often thought Austrailia would be a great Utopia for all the positive things in society but with all of this going on what better a joke. If I were being serious I think I would be considered delusional... for you taking offense I would say the same..........

I doubt we will have much longer to debate this. The casulties will be a lot more then Iraq. But its not Iran Im worried about. US vs Iran by itself isnt a big problem. We may take losses but we would win np IMHO.

I am infact worried about Russia, and why is China not ringing in when they have an interest in Irans natural gas and some oil I think, dont quote me on the oil.

Its looks more and more like people are grouping up for a fight.

When Bush came back from Russia after talking to Putin he ordered that a new attack strategy for Iran be drawn up, IE not a direct attack on the nuclear facilities.

It was my opinion that Bush said hey Putin what do you think about us hitting Iran? And Putin said, we will kick your *** lol.

I just couldnt see why he changed his attack strategy so fast after the visit to Russia. I mean it was the next day I believe but it surely wasnt more then 48hrs. Then the visit rigth back again to meet the next president?

I smell negotiations.

The last Time Israel did their maneuvers and Iran threatned to Retaliate -the OPEC Cartel made 23 Billion Dollars above and beyond their expected profit projections for that three week period....

None of this is being reported in the MSM-only Debka (which is usually correct about this stuff), but interesting that the media hasnt picked up on it so that they can help drive up the oil prices.

I have been trying to locate some news articles on it, nothin. I think this is kinda big, why wouldn't they cover this?

This exercise is being done in North Carolina not the middle east. They are doing shallow water maneuvers so they would know what to do near the Strait of Hormuz.

Im in NC. I'll see if i see anything about it locally.

Ok...that is bad, but here is the thing... They are running drills, not actually doin it. Now if they made a blockade, that would be bad...but these are just drills. Prolly just in case somethin goes down (which the government prolly already knows something will go down, cuz they are planning it )

Now I am not poo-poo-ing this off yet, it's just that these are drills. Ill be more concerned when they actually make the blockade for real.

Any navy ship carrying SOC personnel and/or Marines are fully capable of anything, not JUST invading Iran. Which isn't to say that we won't invade them. It's kind of their fault for sending insurgents and weapons into Iraq and trying to kill Americans, all while enriching uranium for a possible nuclear weapons program. I mean they're not exactly making friends here.

debka = israeli government run and therefore fearmongering biased crap.

they`ve been `right` once n 100 reports.....


oh and the strait is within artilery range - so any battle group will be target pracise as tubes bracket them.
