NASA's plans for the moon

NASA says they want to reach the moon by 2020. This time could it be real? Well I am sure we can reach the moon by now, but why are we going? Why now? Why would we ever NEED to go there anyway?

Despite a stalled space shuttle program, NASA is confident it can launch and sustain human exploration of the Moon by 2018, the space agency's top official said Monday.

The $104-billion plan calls for an Apollo-like vehicle to carry crews of up to four astronauts to the Moon for seven-day stays on the lunar surface. The spacecraft, NASA's Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV), could even carry six-astronaut crews to the International Space Station (ISS) or fly automated resupply shipments as needed, NASA chief Michael Griffin said.

"Think of it as Apollo on steroids," Griffin said as he unveiled the agency's lunar exploration plan during a much-anticipated press conference at its Washington, D.C.-based headquarters. "Unless the U.S. wants to get out of manned spaceflight completely, this is the vehicle we need to be building."

Katrina aftermath

The announcement came as NASA works to resume operations at vital shuttle facilities affected by Hurricane Katrina, as well as solve external tank foam shedding problems to increase launch safety. But those problems are short-term compared to NASA's exploration plan, Griffin said.

Hurricanes and Spaceflight
NASA Administrator Michael Griffin, in unveiling the new lunar exploration plan, said he is not seeking extra money and stressed that the space agency will live within its future budgets to achieve this goal.
He dismissed suggestions that reconstruction of the Gulf Coast in the wake of Hurricane Katrina might derail the program first outlined by President Bush in 2004.

"We're talking about returning to the Moon in 2018. There will be a lot more hurricanes and a lot more other natural disasters to befall the United States and the world in that time, I hope none worse than Katrina."

It seems to me that there must be something worth going up there for. I laugh when he uses phrases like "returning to the Moon". Those views aside I think NASA may just be trying to "make contact". Maybe a space meeting of sorts. We know that NASA knows about the Greys and other like them. What we don't know is how much they are involved with the little ET's. Perhaps this is where we get proof of aliens?? HAHAHA! Yeah! Like "they" would EVER show us the proof. But what is interesting is that after the moon landing they never showed any footage after that. It was on TV and that was the end of it. Why don't they show us more of the suppossed moon landing now?? Well when this mission comes underway we could open up a whole new can of worms. Anyways what I am getting at is this---- COULD THE "NEW" MOON MISSION BE AN ATTEMPT TO REACH THE GREYS OR OTHER EBE's?????

I hope this doesn't sound stupid but it was something I was thinking about.
Sorry about my ranting and random writing.

Stopped reading at "This time could it be real?", if you honestly think we haven't landed on the moon before, please *leave* immediately.

mod edit: changed to something a little less swear word like.

I believe we've already been, just heavily censored the data that the public got to see. To a degree it was a good idea, at the original time that it all happened, technology was just starting to take off. Although now, I'm not so sure if it's still a good idea or not to keep everything censored about it, then again, thats not the topic at hand.

Hearing the recent news about nasa sending people up there for 50 years. It sounds to me like it is going to be a terraforming project. Using giant machines to pump certain chemical compounds out into space off the moons surface to produce a man-made atmosphere. Then we could bring some people from earth to live on the moon, would solve alot of issues, such as over population and everything that brings along with it. Not to mention, a civilization is formed based on two things, its knowledge, and the resources it has to achieve what it wants.

For example, maybe the only reason we arent a space-farring civilization yet is because we lack a nessicary element that is undiscovered, perhaps this element doesn't exsist on our planet, but on others it does.

I wouldn't be suprised if the next hundred years there are colonies on the moon.

Helium 3. Fuel for Fusion. ( Not sure if that is the real reason, but they'd
like us to think that, perhaps just the popular justification.)

Google it or try to find Documentary.....Moon For Sale. (Fascinating)

or here:

Staging area for manned Mars missions(?).

Space Weapons Base(?).

ET's invited us(?).

But Dr Griffin said of the Chinese: "Certainly it is possible that if China wants to put people on the Moon, and if it wishes to do so before the United States, it certainly can. As a matter of technical capability, it absolutely can."

So this is the 'Alternative energy' Pickens gave all that money to

I just hope that helium3 isn't put to use in a destructive way. I think everyone is getting tired of things getting blown up.

Why we are going back, I can't say but, that we did go I know for sure. I have lived my entire life here in Cocoa Beach and we did't fake none of it I assure you. And we didn't loose the 3 Astronauts of Apolo 1 to fake the moon landings for the world.
I think it is too expensive to go t the moon. I don't think it is worth the price because if it where, we would've never stopped going. I believe that is why the USSR never went, too expensive and no aliens or green cheese.

John Lear says theres already a mining operation already there.

I've seen his pictures of people just standing around there on the moon without spacesuits on. Hes got his own forum you know.

Really freaked me out.

Heh, do you feel a bit of a draft?

Looks like the space race is making a come back. 'Bout dang time.

How did they shield the radiation for Apollo. Down here on earth it takes between six and 12 feet of earth to do the job for a bomb shelter.

The sun is no different from a nuclear bomb in that respect. Once you leave the earths electromagnetic bubble, you are little different from a hungryman dinner in a microwave, biggest difference is you take the aluminum cover off in the microwave.

So, How did they do it? If they did it? How are they going to do it this time?

Please don't say gold foil or I will be forced to laugh!

There are those that believe that the moon also has an atmosphere. I like to suscribe to this opinion. The moon has mass, which would work to collect gases around it. These gases would form an atmosphere, which would help to dissipate some of the solar radiation.

Just looks like markings in the ground to me. Go bust out the window to your microwave and turn it on while standing in front of it for about an hour, then tell me how you feel.

Not to mention the part of you facing the sun will be heated to extreme temps, and the part facing away will be frozen to an extreme.

As for the moon collecting an atmosphere, sure it MAY have something up there, but does it contain the nessicary elements to shield from radiation? Can you breathe it in safely?

I think not.
