Ok, this evil is spread even amongst the Democrats! As opposed to just repugnants. This "Fellowship" is now mixing their version of Jesus with politics---never a good mix. The religious right is on the rise, ready to tell YOU how to live.

WASHINGTON Six members of Congress live in a million-dollar Capitol Hill townhouse that is subsidized by a secretive religious organization, tax records show.

The lawmakers, all of whom are Christian, pay low rent to live in the stately red brick, three-story house on C Street, two blocks from the Capitol. It is maintained by a group, alternately known as the ''Fellowship'' and the ''Foundation,'' that brings together world leaders and elected officials through religion.

The Fellowship is host of receptions, luncheons and prayer meetings on the first two floors of the house, which is registered with the IRS as a church. The six lawmakers U.S. Reps. Zach Wamp, R-Chattanooga; Bart Stupak, D-Mich.; Jim DeMint, R-S.C.; and Mike Doyle, D-Pa.; and U.S. Sens. John Ensign, R-Nev.; and Sam Brownback, R-Kan. live in private rooms upstairs.

Rent is $600 a month, DeMint said.

''Our goal is singular and that is to hope that we can assist them in better understandings of the teachings of Christ, and applying it to their jobs,'' said Richard Carver, a member of the Fellowship's board of directors. He served as an assistant secretary of the Air Force during the Reagan administration.

I was listening to Howard Stern last Friday and he was talking about these guys.

the whole time, I kept thinking , this just isn't right.

I have a feeling "our" time is coming. These guys are obviously crooked as hell... Irs involved?? Nooo!
They are the most crooked company out of all of them, remember they audited the IRS and they didn't have their # together at all... Many "errors" in their bookeeping?? oi..

$600/mn for rent eh? Must be nice..

It's good to know the the 'fair' regular joe's who work hard for a living are getting #ed up the ass with property taxes, yearly taxes, our 6% taxes on everything we buy.

We should all band together under a "christian union" and label ourselves the fellowship 2. Dirty bastards.

That just makes me sick! We're going to get em one these of these days, and it's going to be sweet sweet revenge. People can only take so much bs before they throw it right back in their faces. power to the people, not power to the crooked mfkers who take our money and say it's "illegal" if you don't, while their getting kickbacks and livin it up on our dime.

Crooks.

Fine by me, just as long as we get to kick some ass along the way. This is not right.. Not right at all..
As the days go on, I read more and more bs about our representatives, and the more I realise how full of # these people are and how we need to do something about it quick before all end up in concentration camps or something... We're already being taxed to death.

Did you hear about the social security??????

Guess who's pockets "our" money will be going into..

That's right...... THEIRS.

And it's only a matter of time.

We have theives running our country and we're letting them get away with it.

Its to late...if you try to do anything you will be labeled a terrorist and shipped out to with the rest of them to live in a 4x4 ft cell...

but that doesnt mean we cant bitch and complain all the way to the appocalypse

atleast we know SOME of the truth

Ahhh yes, the good ol labelling threat. Terrorist..
What a scary word, and very easy to manipulate the public with such a word.

But they are the true terrorists. They don't care about you or I, they want our money, our freedom taken away, so they can live large and in charge, they are doing it right now as a matter of fact, and slowly stripping away the constitution so that if people want to fight them politically correct one day, they can say we have no rights to do that.

You know why they've banged the pc into our heads?? To turn us into pussies.
By nature we are physical beings, who don't put up with #, and now that we live in a civilized society they have rammed the pc thing down our throat to soften us up. But i'll tell you one thing, the day we try and use the pc #, is the day they will throw it right back in our face, you see, they use that bs to their advantage, and manipulate the system to get what they want.

In reality we have freedom, but in the world of politics, they will say we have none, but thats just some group of people trying to control us so they can take take take from our pockets while dictating to us what we can and can't do.

So then force will be the last resort and it will turn into another civil war.

And i'm sure they wouldn't hesitiate to use brute force on us either, cuz they just see us like a bunch of blind stupid sheep anyway, cuz thats what we show them
when we vote.

We allow them to get away with their criminal activities, if that were you or I, we'd be in the slammer by now, but see the system isn't really about "justice" it's to work to their advantage, we let them sweep things under the rug, and then justify it will a self defeatist attitude.

They've trained us to take it up the ass.
It's called brainwashing.. They cover it up with a nice fluffy story of something heroic or good they've done in the name of the people, and we say "well heck, that dude seems like a fine man, he's done some rotten things, and lied about it to get our vote, but hey he's a politician man"

And it works for them. We hand everything over with a bow.

in this country will eventually be the "haves" versus the "have nots". As our middle class continues to erode there are more and more "have nots". When it reaches epidemic proportions and the rich continue to live in their gated communities they will eventually be stormed.

I guess Pat Buchanon had it right when he spoke of the pheasants with pitchforks. I used to disagree with most of what this man speaks, however his recent and continual assault about the Iraq situation an other things have given me some new found respect for the man.

So are politicians not allowed to have religious beliefs? And if so, are they not allowed to participate with organizations that share their beliefs? I see nothing wrong with this. A private organization (who is not government funded) is using their money to supply some politicians who have similar religious beliefs with reduced cost housing in exchange for the opportunity to be involved with their religious studies and spiritual growth. It would be nice if that money were spent on people in more destitute situations and I would think they could find another way to get involved with their politicians. I don't think the politicians deserve such a drastic discount, either. But this is by no means EVIL. It's not like this group is forcing the politicians to force their religious beliefs on the people of this country. It doesn't seem fair, but it's not EVIL. and in case you haven't heard yet, the world isn't fair. Get a helmut.
To me, this seems no worse than lobbyists who use their money and influence to get politicians to support their cause. It would be different if this religious group was tryting to pass some law they created, like lobbyists do, but they aren't. It's just another form of influence, a right given to the American people by the constitution. It was made this way to get the American people involved with their lawmakers. I give them credit for getting involved and putting down the money to try and make a difference on this country, instead of just complaining about it on some internet forum.

You're probably one of them whackjob Jesus freaks. That's why you defend this evil so much as you do. Well. let me explain to you the problem. This Jesus Freak Fellowhip has UNDUE influence upon the representatives of this country. When these representatives should be representing the people that voted them in, they are catering to the needs and whims of the Jesus Freak aka The Fellowhip and getting practially free housing for their efforts. That's the problem.

Let's be civil. Try to be mature enough to resist such sophomoric name calling. It's beneath me, and I would hope it's beneath you. It just makes you look unintelligent.

That's why you defend this evil so much as you do.

Don't be so assumptive that you try to suggest you know me well enough to judge why I would defend this. If you read the post you'll see that in reality I didn't defend it. I only said that it isn't EVIL, as you accused it of being.

Well. let me explain to you the problem. This Jesus Freak Fellowhip has UNDUE influence upon the representatives of this country.

I saw nothing in this article stating that they had UNDUE influence. That seems to be something you assumed.

When these representatives should be representing the people that voted them in,

Can you prove that the people in this religious community didn't vote for these politicians? If you can't, then how can you say that they aren't doing exactly that?

they are catering to the needs and whims of the Jesus Freak aka The Fellowhip and getting practially free housing for their efforts. That's the problem.

Problem? Perhaps. EVIL? No.
It seems to me you are just being sensationalistic because they are an organization with religious beliefs. What if it was an enviornmental group? Would that be any different? I would say not. You make it sound like they are puppetmasters. Come on, really. It sounds no different than any other groups trying to influence government.

I am always volitile. Its my nature.

I saw nothing in this article stating that they had UNDUE influence. That seems to be something you assumed.

When an religious organization provides practically FREE housing to a politican in a place akin to a mansion, then that politriican inserts their beliefs into his lawmaking decisions that sounds a little like undue political influence to me.

Can you prove that the people in this religious community didn't vote for these politicians? If you can't, then how can you say that they aren't doing exactly that?

I have lived in Washington for decades. I know you can't trust repugnants and those that side with them.

Problem? Perhaps. EVIL? No.
You are just being sensationalistic because they are an organization with religious beliefs.

No, I truly beleive that repugnants and the religious right are evil.

Colonel, just because you started the thread and are a moderator, doesn't mean that you own the thread. Besides, I think Nicodemus has a point. You are biased, and a bias makes you closed-minded.

Not all of the right-wing is religious, not all religious are right-wing, not all of the religious right-wing is evil. I'm not saying none of them are, some might be. But then the same standard goes for the left.

It's a good thing I'm not part of the religious right.
