"Some people need to learn that everyone has the right to have his own opition.."

Some people need to learn that everyone has the right to persue happiness.

The War on Drugs is a War on people who choose to do drugs.

The laws do more damage to society than the drugs .

Jesus said
It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles man
It's what comes out of it.

The system (governments) the world over makes its money from people working and paying taxes, producing goods (taxes) and you also contributing,if you take drugs you may not work as efficient or as hard and so revenues are reduced. Insurance companies make lots of money by insuring cars ,houses, medical etc, but they don,t like to pay out.Its all about control.taking drugs is against the law,but if every one was arrested for taking drugs or any other offence, you would need thousands of jails. The police arrest xyz to pay for the cops wages and supporting system, you employ a lawyer (supports the system). If we lived in a perfect world where no-one broke the law, everyone was fit and healthy, how many peoples livelyhoods would be destroyed, you wouldn,t need ,judges, lawyers, policemen, less doctors, hospitals, and many other services. Sadly the opposite is true, people worldwide in the millions are dying every year due to killings, wars, diseases, earthquakes, floods, fires, typhoons, starvation, etc this should be illegal, and given government priority, mike

Well, this may have been said previously and I strongly point that this is my viewpoint, but, like everything else available to mankind, we don't seem to be able to use drugs responsibly. They can be addictive, if not physicaly then psychologically.

It's easy to come home and tear into an 8-pack of beers, to "relax" after a hard day, but at what point does that become a crutch or excuse? Same goes for smoking pot, so many people I know drink - which is fine - but, exercising the ability to not-drink I rarely see.

I like booze, it helps me unwind and be a better person socially (LOL!!!), but could I go to a bar and not drink? Perhaps, definitely if I'm driving, but if I'm in a bar I'd rather drink.

LONEGUNMAN, no we are not in middleschool so clearly your assumptions are wrong * therefore please refrain from jumping in with both feet. Also, i regularly take drugs & therefore was wondering WHY they were illegal. The reasons my friends gave were the reasons why they think the GOVERNMENT SAYS they are illegal.

Sorry you mis-understood it

Well,as far a marijuana goes,it is primarily illegal to grow or possess hemp because it is so useful in so many ways,if it were allowed in any way it would put a lot of people out of business.....And that is without using it to get stoned even....

I agree with your sentiments, as a worker in a correctional centre, I'am exposed to the greater percentage of inmates who are in prison because of drug related offences. The cost to the community for keeping these people in jail is enormous and does not deter futiure involvement in such activities. If people want to kill themselves, it's their choice.
The real reason why such substances are classified as illegal is because of the profit incentive to the major peddlers who do not get caught. These people are the ones that want these drugs to remain illegal so that their profits are assured. Privitisation of correctional centres coupled with industries that have a pool, of slave labour also brings extra profits. It is like a revolving door of exploitation, the public foot the bill while the higher ups in the drug trafficking chain make money from drugs and also make money from the slave labour. It is about time that the so called " war on drugs' is revealed for what it really is and it is about time that the people put a stop to this madness which is a massive drain on our resources and only benefits those individuals ( behind closed doors) who profit from this farce.

well for one thing they can kill you through overdosage.
They create problems for society.

What else..

drugs are illegal for the major reason of bringing in money. the money that is made off of ppl taking drugs illegally far exceeds what would be made were they legal. ppl having to pay fines etc and the money coming in to fight "the war on drugs" which is actually a "war on the ppl" not drugs.

I compleately agree with you on that.

i think smoking marijuana is better for ppl that being on anti depressants and/or pain meds that are far worse for your body and mind than the natural substitute.

That one thing that you have wrong. Opiates do not damage the brain or body in any way. That is why they were hailed as wonder drugs. The only down side is that the cause the most sever forms or dependancy and addiction.

you can OD on opiates, heroin is an opiate. Marijuana is not an opiate.

I am an avid drug user. If i had not used marijuana, '___', ecstasy, ketamine, mushrooms, or coc aine I would not be who I am today. I think differently. I'm less selfish. I look at the world with a sense of wonderment. Everything I believed before I used drugs was a lie. It made me realize what our government is doing to us. If the lied about the dangers of drugs what else did they lie to me about I thought. I opened Pandora's box. Being on drugs all the time is no way to live life. I did that for a few years. But now I'm rarely high. I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. Anyways to the subject at hand drugs are illegal for monetary purposes. Fines court costs ect. If the government is going to have a police state they need someway to pay for it. I was arrested in Tennessee once the fines for a dime bag was almost $2000. It also keeps the undereducated for making a living off of them(undereducated by our public school who core curriculum is restricted education). They want the poor to stay poor so they can all work at McDonalds(who freely admits it in their commercials). Anyone can make money off drugs they sell themselves.
Thanks for reading

Alot of points here are valid.

i think one of the best points to make is the war on drugs is a farce, it turns people who arnt hurting anybody else but themselves into criminals.

however there are many drugs out there that do cause health problems, Ice and PCP cause an extreame psycosis as does Speed.

Marijuanna cause schizophrenia, well technically it doesnt cause it, it induces schizophrenia quicker in people who are susceptable to the condition, where as if these people had never smoked the drug they more than likley would have lived out their lives free of the illness.

these conditions are a drain on public hospitals but much the same could be said about alcohol and cigarettes.

with a regulated industry supplying drugs you could probably curb some of the worse conditions caused by drug use as well as over doses.

but i think it would be a more sensible idea to tackle the social problems that cause people to need an escape and take drugs to achieve this end.

and one for the CT's as to the governments reasoning if its illegal people will want to do it, if your perpetually stoned your not exactly going to be motivated to challenge the system.

apples and oranges ...

compare prescription medication overdoses to speed, heroin etc

its near impossible to overdose on Marijuana, all that will happen is you will get a sore throat, maybe a headache and drift off into a nice dreamless sleep

You hit the nail on the head.
I can see how stuff like meth and crack is illegal cause that stuff with straight out kill you along with others of course, Weed on the other hand is a PLANT not a DEMON, it isn't good for you but its better than all the stuff in cigarettes.
Ever see someone without a cigarette for a few days? They are nuts, stoners on the other hand aren't because they can't remember what they did a few days ago.
You can't overdose on Marijuana, cause you'll probably forget how to breathe and pass out. On the other hand go drink a bottle of NyQuil, you'll pass out about the same except the part where you don't wake up.
I'm for freedom 100% so do whatever you want just stay away from me when your doing it.

Marijuana is the safest drug in the world. The THC in it causes you to pass out before you go overboard. Soon Marijuana will be legalized and everyone will get stoned..

Well their legality sure causes problems, just look at the justice system and the families torn asunder by legal consequence! Legalize it ALL tomorrow and watch as the black market and all the crime crumbles at the prospect of true freedom and ownership of ones own body! Watch as education instead of fear and punishment keeps young adults away from obviously harmful drugs like heroin and crack.

One day...
