OK, i understand that this may have been discussed within other threads, but i am just trying to put a feeler out there to see what peoples' view is of this tool or method, whatever you want to call it, and to whether you feel it is useful, appropriate, reliable or damaging.

I do have personal reasons for this query and hope to get into a sensible dialogue with anybody willing.

Well you can kiss that last line goodbye!
The only time I was hypnotised was in former-
Yugoslavia. It was in a hotel and it was a lousy
caberet act.
Apparently, during the show... well, er, he did
things, unnecessary things.

(Shiver) Later, my girlfriend said that I'd
babbled something about flying saucers,
since then, I've been coming here... she's gone
now and left me in charge.

I'm sorry I couldn't help you further old chum,
But I'll never 'go under the pocket-watch' again.

Hey there danagee,

Well you may just be in luck ... I've been a Pastlife Regression Therapist for 15yrs (you find everything on ATS if you look) and here I am.

A short answer to your question ... IMHO hypnotic regression can be risky if the therapist is not extremely careful. Because when a client is under hypnosis they are highly susceptible to suggestion ... which is great if you are trying to stop smoking ... lose weight ... or get over a phobia.

However, for recalling PLM it is very easy for the therapist to inadvertantly (or otherwise) plant a suggestion during the session and of course that can lead to false memory which totally defeats the whole object of the exercise.

I never use hypnotherapy for pastlife regression and I get excellent results (unfortunately I live in North Yorkshire now).

If you want more details check-out my website (see the link in my signature at the bottom of this post)

Or have a look at my thread here on ATS - 'Spontaneous Pastlife Memory'

Hey there Iron Man,

You poor thing but at least you know better now bless your little metal boots.

I almost added ... hypnosis is not a good idea for recalling abduction memories either (for the same reasons) but didn't think it was relevant to the OP. Makes me really angry when I read posts on here suggesting abductees should seek it out to get answers agggh!

Betty Hill stated a good hypno therapist will make the subject forget everything until they are ready for it. In the Hill's case the therapist made them forget it until they were ready to accept their truly terrifying encounter.
I think this is a good idea because then the subject won't be open to a lot of suggestion.

I loved that series, and of course, the song Ernie, The
Fastest Milkman in The West. Off set, Benny Hill was a
quite secretive chap, I had no idea that he was in Ufo
folklore.

Oh and fast-forward filming.... heee! genius.

It depends on the person you see. Make sure they are specialised and experienced in exactly the type of regression you are looking for and that their credentials check out. Also, take a trusted friend with you and state that you would like them present with you during the regression - never trust a person who is not agreeable to that request - and if you can record the session on a tape for your own review later you should, or get a copy from the person doing the regression. Many clients are amazed to hear that there was much they were not even aware about during the regression.

Good luck.

Hey there kidflash2008,

I see where you're coming from and agree in that case ... I was referring to those people who go for hypnosis to try and recall the memories of abduction. This is when suggestion is very damaging and can completely screw someones head.

Good advise but I've found from experience that recording a regression session is not always successful as the client's voice will sometimes be very quiet and difficult to pick-up. Even if they have a mini-mic attached to them it will pick-up the rustling of their clothes when they move about.

But having a friend there to take notes (maybe record the therapist more than the client) ... note taking is usually pereferable in these cases. The beauty of non-hypnotic regression is that the client recalls everything they've said during the session so they know they have not been lead in any way.

I've only more recently recalled having gone thru hypnosis when I was a kid. I'm not able to recall what it was exactly for though.

My personal opinion of this type of use in hypnosis is that it may open people up as if some medium or gateway for others who may have passed on to use.

So, I have doubts that it's always the very same person's soul or spirit. It's as if they've become the ouija board.

I would be interested in a device that can do this as in speaking with those who have passed on. I believe there had been some device on the market several years ago that claimed to do this thru the television. Scam?....probably.

I would think you would need to record the whole event around people and friends you can trust rather than always or ever being alone with the therapist.

Woody, my reason for posting may be related to abduction-i don't know, can't say because my memory is not complete enough about what happened, although i am almost 100% certain that something did; long time ago you see, i was about 5 or 6, hence the post, but it is definitely UFO related.
Gonna check out your site in a tick.

I live in a little market town known as 'the gateway to the moors' it's about 40 miles from Driffield as the crow flies. Never been there but was interviewed by a reporter from their local paper about 10yrs ago (that's as close as it gets)

Funny you should mention 'Driff' because the guy who came to interview me is one of a handful of people where I've actually seen flashes of their pastlives as they've been speaking to me. It was a little freaky I have to admit ... trying to answer his questions and 'watch' images of one of his previous lives at the same time. I would have loved to have told him about it but that would have been a tad unethical as he hadn't asked me to do it, so I had to keep it to myself.

My contact details are on my website so if you're in Driffield anytime and feel like being regressed give me a call ... I'm sure we can settle on some kind of 'mates-rates' as a fellow ATS'er ... see ... this is why I'm never gonna be rich !

Kidflash, or anyone, was it Betty Hill that decided when it was time to face her memories or the therapist? I spoke to a local therapist who told me that revealing certain memories could open "pandora's box" and that he couldn't predict the outcome of such revelations. See my point? How can you, or anyone, tell when you're ready to face possible hidden memories?
