Knife on sale that can freeze its victim

www.metro.co.uk

It looks like an ordinary knife but this blade can explode and instantly freeze a victim's organs.

The Wasp knife ejects a high-pressure gas through a needle in the blade at the touch of a button and the Met Police now fear it could end up on the streets.

'This knife will almost certainly kill and the Met must have intelligence that they are in circulation,' said a police source.

I read about that a few days ago, and it left me wanting one.

It's not that I have a particular need for it. It's just that I really like knives. Especially the scary ones. Something about the Second Amendment, and my personal belief that it's not just a freedom extended to guns.

I just wish I could legally own switch-blade knives :-(

Est. 400 pounds ($800), and it isn't on sale to the public yet.
I think the manufacturer sent their knife video, and a reporter to the police!

For that kind of money, invest in one of the worlds best knives: extrema ratio.

Senior police officers have been warned to look out for a new knife which can inject a ball of compressed gas into its victim that instantly freezes internal organs.

Wasp Knife in London

Wow this is one harsh weapon and so easily available and cheap. This is the last thing that Britain needs on the streets at the moment.

Surely a license for something like this should be needed.

Hope it does not spread, anyone used one of these or seen one in operation?

What do you think about it?

Peace,

o.O was honestly my first reaction when reading this topic. After seeing the design for the knife its one of those deals that makes you go "now why didnt i think of that?" It would cost a fraction of a fraction of that price to make one of your own, all you need to do is rig up a c02 cartridge inside the hilt, and bore out a hole in the blade. Rig a button to it that whenever you push it, it pushes a small needle down into the c02 canister and viola, instant frozeness in a knife. What would seem like a better idea would to make a knife that emits an electric charge instead of ice cold substance.

Who ever invented that knife is an idiot ! That knife is going to make it's way onto the streets in the hands of the wrong people & all hell's gonna break loose ! The gangs in America would have a field day with that thing. I can't see any use for a knife like that except for killing, what would possess someone to make something like that

And then they go & post the video about it on u-tube so a bunch of dumb kids can try and make their own

My first thought was 'idiots' as well, but after reading what the purpose of the knife is for, it makes a lot of sense.

Not sure how well it would work for its intended purpose (sharks).

Usually, it only takes one bite for a large shark to clip a major artery, then its just a matter of time. So the fact that you have to strike first may be at a disadvantage.

Kick ass!!!

Where can I get one!!

Seriously, if the knife is on the street, I'll bet they ban the refill cartridges to reload it.

Then it just a needle on a blade tip.

On a darker note, wonder what else people could inject you with. A modified cartridge could contain a virus or cancer cells or God knows what.

Kinda scary!

I finf it amusing that some seem to think this knife to be any more deadly than an ordinary knife of the same size, dimmensions and sharpness.

This is no more or less dangerous. It's just got a built in 'gimmick' to make a sale.

What's the point of having a knife like this when, if used correctly, any knife can cause death.

Apparently, the ever-growing menace of the shark. This is the kind of thing you'd have expected after JAWS came out....but really? 2008?

From the OPs link:

The £200, US-made weapon is designed to kill sharks and bears and is normally sold to hunters and pilots.

However, the internet has made such weapons much easier to find and buy over here.

Well when people caught carrying knives only get 50 hours community service, then this problem will only get worse.

The penalties in this country are not harsh enough. If you're a terrorist - you should be executed (won't happen though as one of the points of joining Europe is that you don't have capital punishment).

If you're caught carrying a knife with intent, it should be an automatic 10 year minimum sentence.

If you stab someone, then a minimum of 25 years. If you kill them - then that makes you a murderer - so life without parole (and not the UK meaning of "life" which is 25 years
) I mean LIFE.

They've banned guns in the UK and know this knife comes out. Don't they know that it doesn't matter what kind of weapon is banned, it's the person and his intent that matters. They will always find another weapon to use. If someone pulled that knife out with a purpose to kill me then I should and would here in America pull my gun out and shoot him dead.

You should be free to carry all the knives you want. If you prefer to use your own knife (and folk) to eat your lunch, then I don't see why anyone should stop you. The same goes for carrying a knife for everyday tasks, and in preparation for emergencies. Switchblades, balisongs, gravity operated, folding, the way they open shouldn't matter either.

How would the intent even be known? Would self defence be reasonable?

I wouldn't worry yourself. For around the same price as one of these, you can legally purchase a semi-automatic AK-47.

What about simply applying firearms laws to it?

Sure it doesnt have an actual projectile, but it does shoot compressed air with the obvious intent to kill its target.

Its not like I could take a pistol, load it with a blank round and fire into someones eye and leave lawers stumped at what type of weapon violation I should be charged with.
