Why is McCain so low profile? Is he "special" and hiding it?

Okay so Obama is all over the place these days. All over the political shows, all over the daytime talk shows, all over period.

Yet McCain isn't. Why is that? Is there a reason he is avoids public appearances? Do his keepers discourage it? He IS a presidential candidate so even if Obama is the golden boy of the hour, if McCain wanted time on high profile shows one could be sure he would get the time. The media may prefer Obama but that is NOT the reason we see so little of McCain.

I am beginning to think the man is maybe more of a loose cannon than he appears, and that is why his keepers want to maintain a low profile. For the record I am not an Obama fan at ALL, but it just seems like McCain's lack of public airtime is becoming quite noticeable.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I havent really noticed it. But now that you mention it, it does seem like your hear more about Obama than you do Mcain.

Im not so sure its because Mcain is "special" as you say or because his "keepers" wont allow him to come out and play.

I think a more logical approach is to consider that John Mcain simply just isnt as popular of a candidate. Im sure youve heard people say that John Mcain is so much like George Bush and you may be tired of hearing it, but its seems to be true in alot of ways.

Considering that George Bush isnt exactly a popluar president, and that John Mcain really seems to have a similar political stance on most issues, I think it makes since that it affects the amount of airtime John gets.

Mabye im way off base, But it makes since to me that the candidate that is so much like the guy with a ridiculously low approval rating, gets less attention.

Thats just my two cents. Take it or leave it.

i was going to reply and say something exactly like that...but you said it a million times better than i ever could have!

As for your two cents.

I'll take it.

Afterall, how can you ever expect change, unless you're willing to give your own two cents?

Very nice explanation.

When you're on top, everyone hates you. So enjoy the view while you got it.

Well unless they have something so shocking and horrifying on Obama (and I hope they do) that they will win by default, then they had better come up with a way to MAKE McCain seem new and likeable.

The republicans maybe evil but they are not stupid, their silence is puzzling. Maybe they do have something they plan to unveil in the 11th hour, and they think their man is best off ignored until then.

It just seems so very very odd.

I think it is simply that he is easier to promote successfully without his presence, than he is when he appears. Early in a campaign a lot of the work is done via proxys. This is true for both sides, it is a safety measure while you test the water. In McCain's case, I suspect it may be the only chance he has. Whenever he appears in person, he seems to diminish.
Just my opinion. But seeing more of him makes me feel sad for him. That is not a good image to project.

"Bomb, bomb, bomb, Bomb, bomb, Iran"

Every time I think of McCain and November, this jingle starts playing in my head. . . . Odd.

Well as many has said Obama presence hogs the media everywhere he goes, so McCain is saving himself a lot of money for later in the year when he is going to need more publicity.

Beside if you look at the way Bush campaigned, behind close door and with chosen public it seems to be a new trend with the Republicans to avoid public ridiculous and McCain may be doing the same.

Whatever he is doing or not doing it is working. Take a look at the polls. Just 2 weeks ago Obama had a 15 pt lead. Today it is dead even.

Every time McCain talks he risks losing more conservative votes. All he has to do is just let Obama keep talking and he will do in himself.

I think McCain knows he has the election sewn up already, and isn't really concerned about it. Whatever the GOP has on Obama, it must be a real earth-shattering doozy!

Or as with bush in 2004 he knows that he will be elected regardless and the presidency will be handle to him.

After all I lost my faith on our political system a long time ago.

Our presidents are now been chose for us.

Yeah, I think it's better for him to stay out the way, or he might say something to annoy someone.

The lefties have been saying he's been avoiding voting on things because of this, so people don't have ammo against him.

I also saw a clip where someone asked him a question, "what do you think about the fact viagra is available on health insurance, and birth control isn't", and he flat out refused to answer.

I think at the moment, and until the election both major candidates will be trying to hide their real policies or making pretend promises they won't keep in order to try and sway people across to them.

It makes life so much less complicated for us all, doesn't it? We don't even have to think anymore if we don't want to.

They're holding off until after the convention. If they attack Obama right now with their best stuff, there's still a chance that he could be replaced by Hillary as the nominee and the prevailing feeling is that she'd be a tougher opponent for McCain than Obama. With that in mind, it would make sense for McCain to just to go into a holding pattern until that time, provided that he doesn't start losing significant ground in the polls.

There is a chance, yes

But there is a better chance that i'd win the lottery and give it all to you

Obama will win.

The country is smart enough to know that John McCain is simply unqualified.

you mean special as in hiding the fact he's a reptiod. He cant let anybody get too close to him or they might realize that the skin on his face is actually a mission impossible style latex mask to hide his real identity.

I'm on to you you little reptile.

also he could be keeping a low profile because everytime he opens his mouth he sounds stupid. What has he fired his public relations team 2 times. now it's mcain 3.0.

Sounds more like an evil robot or something that would be a joke from futurama like the nixon head in a jar.

Bow down I am McCain 3.0!!! all with serve me or I will eat you!!!

Yeah that is what I meant by special. Though the comments from the other posters about how he has no reason to be high profile right now make sense.

If they have things on obama it makes sense that they will wait until the last minute, apparently obama has a gift for "splaining" things.

God this election is so horrid. They both scare me. I usually don't worry this much about politics but this time there is no denying how bad the situation is.

yeah it is a scary time in america right now. personally I feel bad for whoever is the next president. having to waste a whole term or more to play fixy fixy with all of G Bushes screw ups. G Bush = Emperor nero. it took a long time for rome to recover from that idiot. I predict it will be the same for the us.

Personally I feel McCain is not psychologically fit to lead a parade of ducks across an abandoned road to the other side let alone a country.

The guy was captured and tortured half to death (no fault of his own)this leaves some severe mental pathology as one of it's scars. for some the scar and pathology are too much to be able to be something like a president.

Yeah, John McCain probably does suffer from a little post traumatic stress as a result of his war time experiences, But is Barack Obama really any better with his abandonment issues and identity crisis?

He's desperate for a strong father figure that he can identify with, and that explains why he has so many negative associations in his past like Reverend Wright.
