To think the worst of people has somewhat come as second nature to a lot of people...myself included.
What struck me about the case was how everything just didn't seem to add up. They were across the street in a restaurant, enjoying a drink with
their friends, while the kids were asleep in the room...with no supervision...not just Maddie, but the two babies....who does that? Who leaves their
children alone in a foreign country? It would have been bad enough if they were left alone, at those ages, back at home, in England...but on
holiday...?
Secondly, was the revelation that they had actually been using small amounts of drugs to make the children sleep sounder...at least I read this
somewhere, or saw it on the news...kids and medications....
Third is the fact that the details of the story have been so inconsistent and the media coverage has been so vast...the best way to make someone
forget or ignore something is to confuse them is to throw different details in people's faces, 24/7...
Here's how I, in the most cynical part of my self, think it went down. Several nights in Portugal, the McCanns did the whole, "putting the children
to bed and going out for a nightcap with their friends" thing...they gave the children, or just Madeline, small doses of medication to help keep them
asleep...on the night in questioning, one of the parents returned to the room, to check on the children, as a parent should to see that they were
sleeping alright. I don't think she was found missing, I think she may have been found dead or near death. In a panic, the parents tried to get her
to a hospital, but failed to do so in time....which is why DNA evidence was found in the car...
In a panic for their neglect, as well as the fact that here were two doctors, drugging their child, and her dying as a result of it, they panicked
even more, fearing that if anyone found out, their careers were over, and their other children could be taken from them...so they ditched the
body...somewhere, somehow...wouldn't be hard to charter a boat and dump it in the ocean…it also wouldn't be hard to bury it somewhere...deep...
They returned, cleaned up, made the report of her being kidnapped. But if someone was going to kidnap children to sell, or for whatever reason, why
not take the babies as well...wouldn't have been too hard...?
Their guilt drove them to publicize it to the extent they did....and their guilty consciences forced them to so adamantly pursue the
kidnappers...wishing that they could make it a kidnapping...and not an accidental death of their own child due to their own neglect and
ignorance...
BUT
The thing is, this is the real world...and in the real world, we need evidence...fortunately, for the McCanns there isn't enough evidence to support
my hypothesis. Therefore, it is equally possible, that their story is the correct one, that she has been kidnapped, perhaps by someone wanting to
raise her as their own, perhaps by an illegal sex-ring, perhaps by the Illuminati because she is the anti-Christ, perhaps by Aliens... Unfortunate
for Madeline, no situation that anyone comes up with will locate her and return her to her parents...so, my final conclusion is...
...all we can do is hope that wherever she is, she is not suffering. And send our best wishes to her family...because there is not enough evidence
for us to send them our worst wishes...and no doubt, they are already living in their own person Hells for their neglectful mistakes...
