Just do things that make me happy? Nothing makes me happy anymore because everything's fake, and besides you still need money to do anything at all. Hell you need money just to live, breathe, and eat.

Why am I so jaded? Because at the bottom line the world isn't fair, it's just one big circus, a giant cluster F*(@. Stupid people get wealthy, good people get poor, and worse.

If your mentality is that life isn't fair, and that I should deal with it, then please don't bother responding, I really don't care to read what you have to say.

This is the exact reason (we are robots) I didn't look for another job after 3 months of Crappy tire (I'm 28). For me though, I only really have a problem with peoples mindset's, the whole "we don't care what you can do, we care how much experience you've gotten making money for some one else!". I have a problem with 95% of girls who say they don't want a player/lier, yet turn you down when your honest with them. Alot of girls "expect" you to go completely against your nature of truth and honesty. They do this by asking "do you want to go shoe shopping with me, I want to make sure you like the shoes I get", then it turns into an arguement when all the shoes she picks are not to your liking yet you've given constructive ideas!

It almost seems the only way to get ahead is to not care about others at all and or bend to their will/ways, you can't be yourself!

The only way I can cope is building stuff, going fast on the stuff I've made, music and the knowledge that I don't need to know whats going on in the world or how full my email is.

That's too bad you're unhappy. Not everyone is unhappy. Just because you're unhappy doesn't mean that it's inevitable that everyone is or will be unhappy.

Like I said, if you don't like living in luxury then move to the country and live off the land. Maybe you will find happiness in the physical labour needed to survive in this situation. You will have no need of money. Do everything by your own two hands.

Yes, you can pretend to be happy all the time,
as well as convince yourself your sadness is neverending.
Pretending is not real though.
Life is a range of emotions and intelligence.
That reach different levels through all of our lives.
Many different perspectives will force us to change and grow.
The death of a child, a partner, a parent.
Lost loves and health...are all contributing factors.

If you hate everything, you are clinically depressed,
and need to deal with that.

Maybe I will find happiness there. Or maybe I'll find happiness in meditation. Or medication - like the handful that I've tried. Or maybe I'll find happiness in therapy - the handful of therapists that I've found.

Maybe you're right, maybe I will find happiness there. But I've tried so many things so far, I'm not really all that psyched about trying one more thing on the off chance that it will help me where nothing else has.

I actually did consider moving to Tanzania and doing aid work there, but it's just too expensive to actually get there. My point is that nothing works for everyone. And when you've tried a whole spectrum of things, you gradually become enthusiastic when people start saying 'Maybe you should try such and such'.

And I don't believe I ever said that everyone is or will end up unhappy. I simply said that the universe invariably throws us curve balls. Time and time again. And I stand by that statement.

No argument there. I thought you meant the money thing. It does kind of suck that we need to make money if we want to live within today's society. Money is the means by which we acquire our needs and our wants. You could always go Freegan in that respect.

Maybe the key to happiness is to be satisfied when our needs are met, and not to get too upset when our wants go unfulfilled.

I do hope you find a way out of your depression.

Thanks for your kind wishes. They are appreciated. I guess the biggest trick is figuring out what's a want and what's a need. I'd call love and affection a need, but I'm sure lots would call it a want. Maybe that's where I'm getting hung up.

i really like being outside because nature is so cool!

i also wonder what animals are thinking when i see them doing different things.

gettng stuck in an angry mindset can happen, as everyone else thats posted has said. for me i end up finding some eastern / spiritual / meditation video or article on the internet that gets me really excited about being alive.

im at the point now where i appreciate things alot, especially my own life.
just switch up your routine.
do you do the same thing every day? try something new. go visit some place in your community. go walk around outside for a while.
finding the stimuli that will change your thoughts / perceptions of things is the key.
um.. if u want you could take a drive out to illinois and we could chillax.... and do alot of drugs if your into that

Ajax, I think your insights into "life" are accurate. You sound like Sartre or the Buddha. The only difference between you and them is they didn't stop with those insights. They looked for another way, within the ordinary way that we all follow. Have you tried that?

You sort of described how I think, to a certain extent.

While I don't "hate" life, I see it as ultimately pointless; all life is basically pointless.

You can see it easier if you look at bees or ants...

Huge societies based on eating, and breeding, to ensure there will be more generations to do it... and for what? so some animal higher up in the food chain can do the same.

And really, there's no point. Obviously you could argue that there's the search for knowledge, but if the right people aren't interested in furthering it then that becomes pointless too :S

You are absolutely right - the world we live in does suck! I have witnessed people that lie, steal and cheat get ahead - and they do it without any thought or concern - while the honest, hardworking person gets trampled on and taken advantage of by the deceivers of the earth!

It is all a big waste of time - work 20 years doing something and then the technology changes and all that you have spent your time on - is not useless to society - and we are suppossed to be OK with that?
