"MOSCOW, Russia (CNN) -- Russia's Foreign Ministry Tuesday threatened a "military-technological" response if the United States deploys a missile defense system in former Soviet-bloc nations near Russia's borders."

Link to full article: www.cnn.com...

So, is this really a good idea right now? Under the circumstances, I really think we're just pushing buttons now...

Thoughts?

Sure enough, someone else posted a similar thread just as I was posting mine. Great minds are thinking alike..

Feel free to post in the other one if you want to. Just looking to start a conversation on the subject.

I'm sure there is some button pushing, but we're the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD! There's nothing we can't do, and no one to tell us we can't do it! We are the world's policeman, and conqueror, all in one.

Really though, how much does Russia have? What could they bring to the table to give us a scare? Another missle crisis?

And what is "Military-Technological"? That's curious wording.

As i said in the other thread; We're always pissing Russia off and Russia is always threatening to do this or that. I suppose at somepoint they really will do something, but that remains to be seen.

That's right, I forgot about all that. Thanks for helping me snap out of it.

You raise a good point thought...we do tend to do a lot of just pissing each other off. Hopefully, nothing will come of it.

In the short term it means they will redeploy their mobile missiles and probably retarget some warheads at the NMD sites, in case of war with the West.

In the long term, more sophisticated decoys and maneuvering RV's, probably using long reentry (maybe skip) profiles using the ionization plasmas to cloak them from radar. AFAIK it's all stuff they have been working on since we hopped on the NMD bandwagon anyway, but no doubt now they'll go the extra mile.

It does not mean they're going to nuke Poland and the Czech Republic next Tuesday
