Man bitten by Walmart rattlesnake

www.news.com.au

A POSIONOUS rattlesnake hidden among leafy plants in the garden section of a Walmart store in Florida sprang out and bit a man who was shopping there.

The man was taken to hospital after the 30cm pygmy rattlesnake bit him in the right hand while he was looking at the plants at the store in Pembroke Pines, Florida, about 50km north of Miami.

Without being cynical, as I can see how this would be traumatic - but this bloke has probably won the lottery now.

Can we guess how much WalMart will have to pay him in compensation?

I'm not schooled in these matters, so would anyone know what he's likely to receive?

That sucks for that poor fellow. We have tons of rattlesnakes down here and they can be nasty, especially if you don't hear their warning. I don't know how accountable Walmart is since it was the garden section (might be outdoors), but knowing the way these companies work they'll probably shell out a few million to settle and keep it quiet.

Can you say "PAID"!

I'm heading to Wal-mart garden section.

Kidding.....I wonder if this was some sort of intentional marketing scheme?

Kidding again.

Sorry to tell you but I doubt he will get any money at all. Maybe a gift card if he is lucky.

I used to be an Assistant Manager for Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart plants are provided by vendors from all over the country and as evil as Wal-Mart is, there is no way that they could have prevented this.

Plus, the last year I worked for them, Wal-Mart did over $350 billion dollars in sales. With that kind of money, you better believe that they have better lawyer than this guy could ever dream of getting.

Sorry man, next time trip over a pallet in the middle of the store.

I live in Pembroke Pines and I'm very familiar with the south Florida area and local wildlife. When I was about 14 I had a close call with a snake exactly like this.

However, I was in a very rural area at the time and I have'nt seen a rattlesnake since. My point is, you don't see many rattlesnakes in Pembroke Pines. Most cities in south florida are packed with people. You really have to go out of your way to see wildlife these days and that includes snakes. Don't get me wrong we have plenty of reptiles in our gardens but a pygmy rattlesnake wandering into wallmart is not likley.

It is very possible that someone went out of thier way to play a cruel joke, or this person needed some easy money!

Either way...... I bet you a rattlesnake that this guy is going to be rich!
