most of what we gave iraq was distroyed by iran. cant really speak for that country. as for the taliban. the out-dated equipment we sold them was all but usless when russia left. most of our fighting were aginst BMP's and t-72's that is russian armor btw. the russians burried them in sand pits and caves by the thousands. stacks and stacks of them you couldnt even fathom the numbers that were found. anyways most of that stuff was left mostly intact and the climate there didnt affect it much. what could be secured was given to the new government. and my house is made of mostly wood and drywall but there are a few glass windows. so you can step off your high horse and join the rest of the world..

Dont blame the weapons, they are inanimate objects. If the arms manufacturing nations dont want their arms being used against them, then dont bloody well build them or sell them.

I am about to have a rant now. What really pisses me off is this AMERICA AND ITS WAR ON TERROR bulls***. Where the F*** were you when the UK was fighting terror for over 40 years against the PIRA? Oh yeah, thats right, you were wining and dining the PIRA leadership in the White House and supplying Armalites and M60's to them.

So dont give me this war on terror crap as if the US is the first nation to ever come across this. Most of the European nations have been fighting this for years.

Why do some people think this happens only in Iran ?

I saw this post when it first began and I didn't have a chance to say something. I really think this is a great thread. It's good to hear something positive for once in awhile

In regards to kids with guns: have you guys seen these photographs taken by Gottfried Helnwein?

He's an artist from Germany (I think) and deals a lot with issues regarding children. He has some amazing oil paintings if you get a chance to look around. I know these photos have Marilyn Manson in them, which is another topic all together, but the look on his face and the little girl's is great. Anyways, wonderful thread and I really enjoyed seeing these pictures!!

From what I have been reading, it seems that the CIA and MI5 have promised the Baluchi people in Iran (one of the nation's several unhappy minorities)... they have promised the Baluchis an independent nation i.e., Baluchistan.

Now such a promise is a very powerful opiate to those who long for independence from an oppressive Persian government in Teheran.

When one adds up the Azeris and the Baluchis and the other unhappy minorities, I think Iran looks extremely unstanble. But once a nation is attacked by another nation, quickly all of those minority divisions tend to vanish and a nation is suddenly truly born where there was before only an association of conquered peoples under the most recent iteration of an Empire.

Obviously the majority of the IRA and it's divisions were heinous criminals, and committed unfathomable atrocities, but that came mostly out of the treatment of Nationalists by the British government; their situation breeded extremism (for a minority) as it does everywhere else where minorities are oppressed. So the British/NI Govt shared the blame with the Republican and Loyalist terrorists, please don't make it out that a single group or organisation were to blame. Though thankfully terrorism is largely a thing of the past here.

This guy, Kaliq Sheik Mohamed, who is being brought up on trial for plotting 9/11 is an example of the CIA tricking a Baluchistani into being a patsy.
Baluchistan is being attacked from both sides, Iran and Pakistan.
So, they are going to look for some sort of relief, from whoever is willing to offer it to them.
So Kaliq got sucked into 9/11, thinking they were going to get rewarded.
They were just used to give cover to the real CIA black op.
I feel sorry for these people and they are getting the shaft.
I do not think America has a good track record for keeping their promise to help uprisings.
Look at Hungaria and the Shiites after the first Gulf War.

Regardless of your feelings of Iran, we were not meant to "govern" them or any other country. We were meant to defend what our founding fathers gave us......... ON OUR SOIL.

America was the refuge for the rest of the world.......if someone wanted freedom from tryranny, that is was the land they should have been able to run to. A safe haven. The concept was never meant to be imposed upon the rest of the world.

The true concept of this nation has been lost and I wonder if it will ever be found again.

The Germans and Japanese are governing themselves. Iraq is setting up a government and thus governing themselves. Seems like the same old thing so what are you talking about?

using this definition: "to prevail or have decisive influence : control." i remember, after no weapons of mass destruction were found, Bush, during an interview said that we were there "to bring freedom to the iraqi people." that is a form of governing.

if what you say is true, then why are we still there? why are our men and women dying everyday? now, i know the reasons behind the reasons, but this is what is being fed to us and by the principles on which this country was founded, even the "given" reasons are wrong.

if they are truly setting up their own government, then we should have no reason being there. we, as a country, were never meant to fight foreign wars. the reasons being is because of what we see here in the world today.......... manipulation, lies, and abuse of power that benefit only a handful of ppl.

No, it's not and your argument is such a stretch for 'governing' that it's ludicrous.

The words you need to focus on is 'setting up'. Their government is not fully in place yet. Once their government is completely established we will leave. Anytime before that would be crazy because everything up to this point will have been for nothing.
