I was outside last night lookin at the sky, i have been doing this off and on for a couple weeks now, anyway i was about to go inside when i notice a really really slow moving light that looked like it was far away and higher up then any plane i have seen. It moved slowly to the right and just went out, but it looked like it looped back, or some sort of u-turn right away. I didnt think much of it, but was still curious so i stayed out, about 10 minutes later that same exact thing happend but in a different piece of sky, it slowly moved to the right and disappeared. there was no sound or blink lights. I have seen something similar about 3-4 years ago but closer. I was doing a "dryland" practice for hockey, when i noticed a solid light that was moving slowly and there was no sound, if it were a plane or a helicopter it wouldve been easy to here, but there was no sound. It moved for about 5 seconds and then vanished, by this time my friend was watching too and he didnt now what it was either.
any ideas?

Could you supply a bit more information please? What time was it, and also color, size, location and state if possible?

Light in the sky is a bit vague for any real comments.

I was going to put that info in and shouldve, my mistake, knew it was gonna be asked for lol.
The light was gold, no blinking, and no other colors. It was a couple minutes after 10-10:05 pm the first time i saw it then roughly 1020 the second time, i live in southern california about 80 miles east of LA. It was small, it looked like all the other stars, but then started to move and thats when it caught my eye.

yeah...looks exactly like a star....whenever i see em they just appear out of nowhere and move really slow, sometimes really bright... going north....ALWAYS going north....and usually just dissapear after a few minutes.....i went outside the other night and didnt see one...but then it got really bright and cought my attention...when i looked up after seeing the flash it got less bright and just went north for a minute or so then just dissapeard, still wondering what they are...everyone tells me theyre just planes....but...i havnt seen em while im with other people so....they couldnt tell me for sure, oy yeah...i see them at all hours of the night..no specific hour

edit: forgot to say time...

Same thing happend but the ones i saw didnt travel very far at all, they disappeared in seconds, they both moved north though, which is odd.

I have seen something like this, and I think it was travelling north as well. I thought perhaps it was a sub-orbital spy plane, but then the light faded too quickly. Have seen this several times, though I have not seen any maneuvering other than speeding up and slowing down, which wouldn't really jive with a spyplane or low-orbit satellite.

I will try to get video or a picture, although a picture wouldnt look like much, just a star. Does anyone have any other ideas, or has anyone else seen this?

I see these things on most clear nights, they seem very far away and always heading north. They dont flash, just seem to move slowly across the sky until they fade or go off into the distance. They seem too high up to be planes?

Hi endel. It could have been a number of things that you saw. On any given night you could go out and see satellites, the ISS, hubble, Genisis to name just a few. They can appear, well, like moving stars and then just fade out, I think when they lose the sun's reflection.

Here is a link to Heavens Above website that I set for Los Angeles. You can check to see when these things will make a visible pass. Click on the object and you can also check for previous passes.

HeavensAbove

I hope this helps. u2u me if you have any problem navigating the link.

Hi Beauty. Try this website that I posted above. You can set if for your location. The best time to see these things is shortly after sunset. What is really cool is when the ISS and shuttle are trailing each other, before and after docking. Looks like two giant stars chasing each other because they are brought to a lower orbit.

"any ideas on what i have seen"

Yes, I have an idea right out of your post...

"a really really slow moving light that looked like it was far away and higher up then any plane i have seen."

If you have a pic/vid maybe I can give some more input.
Glad to have helped.
