Mornin' Forumerions,

Interesting report out of China:

A HEATED debate has developed after a man claimed he had taken a photograph of an unidentified flying object on Saturday in Chongqing, Xinhuanet.com reported today.

He Zhongyuan claimed that a huge, oval-shaped UFO was flying in the sky that night, the report said. He said he was at Chaotianmen Square and shot the picture at about 8:47pm.

The UFO was green and yellow color, according to the report. It was bigger than half a football field and had many holes like doors and windows, according to the report.

Chaotianmen Square had a laser light show from 8:40pm to 9pm that night, the city's lighting authority said, according to the report.

The rest of the story . . .

Is there a link to the actual photo? Cant find any :/

The rather funny thing though, he describes a regular aircraft pretty spot on, lol. Maybe the lightshow just lit it up.

I've found a larger image:

(Click on the image to see it all).

I've also found an article from Chongqing Times,
it can be downloaded H E R E (.PDF format).
ecqsb.hsw.cn...

I have no clue what does it say: some chinese speaking member would be helpful...

that was the actual photo. A lense flare miraculously and quickly becomes a UFO lately around here. I believe in life elsewhere, even visiting...but why people even bother with this is beyond me. Thank you for posting OP, regardless.

While respecting your opinion about the lens flare, I'm a bit confused why it would seem to be behind the beams of laser light. To me, since the camera is taking the picture from this side, it would seem reasonable that any "flaring" would overshadow the beams themselves.

I'll hold off on deciding about this until a bit more analysis is done.

As I posted in another thread discussing this photo, I find it funny (no coincident) how the UFO in question seems to be made up of the same colors of their laser light show.

Its probably only a PR stunt with the image being projected above the other lasers. Reminds me of the laser light show at the planetarium....minus the Led Zeppelin and weed smoking teenagers.

Considering that yellow spotlight was aimed dead on at the camera - I think this picture definitely screams of lens flare.

The one totally speculative argument I'd make for a UFO is maybe if these things can in fact cloak - then perhaps accidentally flying over a laser light show is one way to have your cover blown.

I'll go outside and shine my 2 dollar laser pointer at the skies tomight and report my findings in the morning.

This is way out there but there was a thread about area 51 flashes lights up to possibly get the attention of UFO's... maybe they thought they were answering a call???
Also that would be one hell of a lens flare. Wonder what the other 80 or so pics. have captured if anything.?

thanks Internos for the bigger picture.....

imo it's a marketing ploy to gain more attention, but i think if you were trying to attract a ufo all the laser lights would be a good way to do it.

You know what - I avoid your posts as much as possible because you seem to post all sorts of crap threads just to try to get attention rather than encourage any sort of healthy discussion about UFO's.

This childish response really absolutely confirms that. Now where's the ignore button?

My friend's wife is japanese and can apparently read chinese... I'm hoping to catch her online a bit later to see if she can translate any of it.

No guarantees she'll be online or willing but I'll try!

Hey all,

Here is a link to a google translation of the Chinese web page; hope this helps.

Translated Web Page.

City lighting Authority chief had said that at 20:40 on June 21 to 9 between the Chaotianmen Square around a laser light show, but did not add lighting patterns and text.

No patterns or text….

Peace.

Could be lens flare...could be real thing...could be Photoshop. But it doesn't look like a solid structure.

Thank you, Scramjet76

It would be interesting to know if it's true that there are more photos,
and a rough translation of this article.
I hope to hear some news from you, thanks again.

Unfortunately she couldn't get the gist of it. Only "UFO over Shanghai" which any of us could have guessed.

Any ATS members know someone who can read Chinese?
