For the time being, there's only enough evidence to suggest that a meteor entered our atmosphere, heated up due to air friction and basically
exploded. (Don't consider meteors solid balls of rock btw).
Researchers took samples from trees in the area and found rock in the trees dated to the time of the incident.
People can claim it was an E.T. craft that went critical or that "they saved up and blew up an asteroid" but in all reality, there isn't enough
significant evidence to support those theories.
