Ron Paul Claims Pelosi Spiked Iran Bill

Representative Ron Paul says House Speaker Nancy Pelosi removed a section from a bill passed by Congress which would have barred the U.S. from going to war with Iran without a congressional vote, claiming she did so at the behest of the leadership of Israel and AIPAC.

According to Paul, Pelosi and her allies in the chamber's Democratic leadership initially accepted the bill designed to outline an Iraq exit strategy, but during a revision of the legislation excluded the statement regarding the need for congressional approval of any military assault on the neighboring country of Iran.

“She [Pelosi] removed it deliberately,” Paul says. “And then, the astounding thing is, when asked why, she said the leadership in Israel asked her to. That was in the newspaper, that was in 'The Washington Post,' that she was asked by AIPAC and others not to do that."

I'm pretty sure if Bush wants to strike Iran he would do it with or without approval from Congress but now he needn't worry about any backlash on that front...

There's something about that woman that worries me a lot. I read her comments on the FISA bill and she made it sound like it was a great victory to let Bush and the Telecoms off the hook for violating the law, as the speaker of the house she is basically the one who directs the party votes that keep killing the Bush/Cheney impeachment bills, and now this...

What the hell's going on here?

I must admit that evne though I am a fairly partisan Democrat her recent actions worry me as well. It is almost as if the neocons have her. Being blackmailed maybe? Her record prior to the Speaker of the House was pretty solidly progressive now... not so much.

Each time something like this happens I am more convinced that the media is shielding a terrible fact from us. There is no two-party system. They are a single ideologically-controlled body being used by the corporate elite to proceed with their agenda to gut America's potential. The corporate media is being used against the interests of the American people. The so-called representatives of the people have been either usurped, corrupted, or bamboozled into granting full control to the 'newest' American super-citizen - the Corporate conglomerate. Everyone else is just so much chattel and noise from which labor and wealth is harvested. Like any other heard we must be 'controlled' and kept 'content'. The Constitution was our main defense against the greedy and power hungry.

Our Constitution clearly threatens their objective of complete control. Pelosi is operating on a separate set of principles from those of her oath of office. That a foreign interest could literally induce her to alter the stated political intent of American legislation shows her inability to stand up for the American people. Who's will does she represent? Not America's - she has stated as much, and her actions and inactions telegraph her true lack of loyalty to the will of the American people.

This kind of transgression goes beyond partisanship and dangerously approaches that which could be viewed as treason. It is nearly impossible to measure the magnitude of hubris involved when she unequivocally and basely admits that she acted on behalf of a political action group.

Yes this is all valid proof either that most of our entire bunch of representatives and senators are being blackmailed or have joined together to represent their masters the corporations who own them.

Watch both repubicans and democrats do their little dog and pony act before the cameras and then go do whatever they want to when it comes to voting. When in 2000 the congress people from Florida begged one senator to stand up for the people of Florida, not one democrat senator stood up, not Kerry, not Edwards, not Kennedy, nary a democrat senator would stand up for the people of Florida. Why not, what did they have to lose?

From the very beginning Pelosi took Impeachment off the table, why?

Probably because it would be disastrous, especially since a lot of what Bush has done was approved by Congress even if it wasn't Constitutional. I know of only a few in Congress who care about the Constitution whole heatedly and that's Ron Paul (R) and Dennis Kucinch (D)...I think there are possibly two more in the House but I have forgotten their names (both Republicans if my memory serves me correctly). The bottom line is that most people in Congress even those claiming to be Republicans are outright socialists. If it's not Universal Healthcare then it's wiretapping unlawfully and other Patriot Act none sense. No matter who is in charge it is guaranteed their will be unconstitutional acts and bigger government.
