Saw this on the front page of The Sun this morning

You do have to take this tabloid with a pinch of salt, but this year has seen more and more UFO articles than I recall, probably more this year so far than the last ten years altogether.

The latest article is here:

www.thesun.co.uk...

STUNNED police gave chase to a UFO after it attacked their helicopter near a military base.

The mystery aircraft zoomed straight at the chopper as the three-man cop crew prepared to land.

The pilot banked sharply to avoid being hit, then launched into a high-speed pursuit. But he was forced to give up the chase as the helicopter’s fuel ran low – and the UFO escaped.

'Unusual' ... where incident took place

All three crew described the object as “flying saucer-shaped” and circled by flashing lights. They reported it to senior officers, who passed on the report to Britain’s UFO investigators.

The incident happened as the helicopter was returning to the MoD’s St Athan base near Cardiff, where it is stationed.

The chopper was at 500ft and waiting to land when the crew saw the UFO speeding towards them from below.

Not sure where I could find more detail on the matter at the moment.

Not sure if the title has been edited, but it should be 'Police Chopper'!!!

Seems there are being a few more reported sightings over the UK recently.

The MoD, which usually investigates UFO sightings, said: “We’ve heard nothing about this. But it is certainly not advisable for police helicopters to go chasing what they think are UFOs.”

what an intriguing comment

I have just heard about this story on the BBC Radio 1 news !?! Wow - main stream news !?!

They stated "Police confirm seeing a UFO whist in a Police Chopper."

Does anyone else have further info or pictures?

As usual, despite it being ultra-credible witnesses - policemen who actually are in the skies a lot, it will be somehow explained away as a misidentification or something equally ridiculous, or be forgotten about all together.

Found three more news sources for this story:

www.telegraph.co.uk...
www.thaindian.com...
www.metro.co.uk...

All three articles have almost identical wording except for a few extra comments towards the end. The last article has a really ridiculous photo attached but they don't claim that it is of the actual event.

Really? But UFO's don't exist right? So how can it be dangerous/non advisable? Or do the MoD know something we don't? LOL!

Being a stickler for words, You have to love the MoD's poorly thought out response! Is it just me or does that remark beg more questions than it answers?

BBC's website has picked up the story as well:
news.bbc.co.uk...

South Wales Police says the helicopter did not give chase and describes the three man crew as very experienced.

It's interesting that the BBC report does not mention anything about the description of the UFO being "flying saucer shaped circled by flashing lights". Instead they report...

"A police helicopter crew has spotted what is described as an unusual aircraft in the Vale of Glamorgan."

Also, from the South Wales Police spokesperson...

"In today's skies, there are a wide variety of aircrafts which come in a range of different shapes and sizes and in all probability, this sighting has just confirmed that one of these was in the area at the relevant time,"

Apparently, this spokesperson also said the pilots did NOT give chase, but 4 others news sources say they did. And so the lies begin...

Oh Dear, The 'facts' are changing already. Didn't see that one coming!

I do hope they made use of that rather large camera on the bottom of that chopper. Would be lovely to see anything they got if they did.

And I'm not sure any police would be stupid enough to actually chase a ufo. (did I just say that!!?) But the sun,has been known to fabricate, ever so slightly in the past

that's not to detract from the fact that credible witnesses reported a ufo. Seems a bit sus that it was over military ground,or very near by.

No picture was taken.

As for the MOD comment, which was very interesting, lets try and add some sense to it first. The Russians have been flying near British airspace for a while now, which is concerning the MOD, UFO does not mean alien craft - MOD could be thinking enemy aircraft.

Thats why the story is changing, if they cannot confirm what the police saw then the MOD will silence it. Last thing the population needs to hear is an unidentified aircraft entering British airspace.

Police said no pictures were taken, but all UK police helicopters are fitted with cameras
(that is the only part of the story that does not make sense)

First of all the MOD are lying, they would have been told immediately because it is protocol. secondly under the FOIA we should be able to prove that the MOD knows about this.

The spin has already started

This is the shape of things to come, its not that they are getting angry and aggressive, I belive that they are making themselves known to get the attention. This year there has been a high number of sightings, disclosure is coming.

MOD do test a significant amount of probes over populated cities in the UK, which are then sent off to the likes of Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran. Another reason for the MOD silence.

UK has the second highest spending on military technology/R&D in the world; never know, this could be MOD aircraft being tested. Thats why it does not like police chasing it.

RAF St Athan is in the area too, it is possible it was military aircraft.

The original story from the Sun stated "The chopper is crammed with hi-tech cameras and surveillance gear, but the UFO somehow avoided being caught on film.

Strangely, the crew could not see the craft with night-vision goggles – but all said it was “clearly visible” to the naked eye on the night of June 7. "

Very strange indeed!

Translation:

The police caught images of the craft, but the MOD will not make it public because it could be a) one of theirs or b) foreign to the UK. There is no question regarding evidence, the cameras would have picked up the craft and probably caught a decent image.

It will never be made public though.

Thats definately something worth noting down and throwing into the pot.

Eye witness reports say a saucer shape was identified? another explanation could be back engineered or a crashed craft flown by us. There have been lots of sightings recently around the south and south west of the U.K.

Nobody knows what the MOD gets up to in Research & Development. Speculation will start to fly now; the MOD has been force to comment that UK airspace has been violated by something.

I believe the organisation will be investigating logs and radar evidence to locate and pin point all known craft in the area.

Do you know if this sighting was logged with any of the top 'compromised' UFO organisations like MUFON e.t.c ?

I came across a web site last week that monitors and pin points on a map all UFO sightings that are logged. We really need to keep on with this and try and get some answers.
