Whoops. I forgot to put new in front of radical. Of course I wouldn't, we were making new ones due to our pretty #ty policies over seas during those years. Arming both Iran and Iraq to kill each other. Yeah, Saddam invaded Kuwait with our weapons. He gassed people with our weapons. Iran attacked people with our weapons. We armed the Taliban to the teeth, CIA trained Osama, and told them to go kill Russians. We helped create these "monsters". How many billions spent during those 80's and early 90s were given to or spent on such people?

Saddam did not invade Kuwait with any U.S.-provided weapons. Take a history class, bucko. The United States military supplied Iraq with BIOLOGICAL weapons to push Iran back across their borders. The United States military did not supply Iran with weapons. Crooked military officials UNOFFICIALLY AND ILLEGALLY supplied Iran with wespons. There is a bit of a difference. And arming Osama seemed like the best thing to do at the time, which ultimately contributed to the downfall of communism's grasp on Europe. Politics and war make strange bedmates. In the 80's, no one had a crystal ball that alerted the U.S.A. that they would be targeted by these people.

This feeble-minded point of view would be like the British belly aching about how they armed the 13 colonies only to have their arses kicked out of North America.

It doesn't hold water.

It wasn't just an American thing. But we really gave a lot.

The downfall of Communism in Russia has been pointed by many different things, not just the "costly and tiring" battle in Afghanistan. More importantly, I would say that Poland's movement started to end the Communist grasp of Eastern Europe.
