I think by now almost everyone has heard about the Ultra Large Hedron Collider at CERN, where scientists hope to create a miniature black hole and as a bonus some exotic matter.

Now some scientists have begun to protest saying that creating a blackhole might cause the end of the world. They say that the black hole will not vaporize like predicted by the scientists but will rather suck in all the matter around it and thus growing more and more and eventually eat the whole world killing all of us.

What does the ATS Community think about this ?
All opinions welcome!

i subscride to plasma cosmology, not the 'standard' model
so as far as im concerned, black holes are pure sci fi, and not real science
so, im not worried in the slightest

That got me good there.

Still, at least we'll get some information close-up on black holes before we die.

I'll bet you everything I own that the world will not end when they fire this thing up

I just hope they learn something that can justify the huge cost of the thing.

Yeah, that's what I thought too
Atleast we get to see a black hole up close!

Isn't there already a thread on this? From back when we thought it was gonna start in may?
This thread asks the same question as the other thread...

Hmm... that reminded me of the point i made on the chimera cells.

What kind of mind would it take, do you think, to create a circular tunnel 27km round for the explicit purpose of firing photons, steadily becoming more powerful in terms of energy value, at one another?

Kinda reminds me of something Scaramanga would think up, albeit with physics instead of species-destroying plague.

Cosmic particles with much higher energy hit our upper atmosphere on a DAILY basis. *sigh* I guess fear-mongering and appealing to people's emotions are the name of the game now a days.

What kind of mind? An inquiring one.

Hadrons ('big' subatomic particles) are held together by very powerful forces. If you want pull them apart to see what they're made of, you have to overcome those forces with even more powerful ones. Basically, you have to hit them with a very, very big hammer.

The LHC is that hammer. The hammerhead is those high-energy photon you mention.

So your question becomes: what kind of mind would want to hit something really hard with a hammer, just to see what it is made of?

We all know the answer to that: a human mind.

We're curious little beggars. And that's a good thing.

When the hole opens we will send all of the cows in, thus solving the huge and terrible methane issue that has been punishing our planet for so long!!!

Bye Bye Cows!!!!

....and then we will tie a rope around George Bushes waist and go fishing for the flying spaghetti monster!!!!

...also if we are nice and only sacrifice the gullible into the yawning chasm/hole of doom perhaps we will learn who shot JFK.

I await with wonder.

People have expressed their concern regarding CERN, also called LHC (large hadron collider), that was build in France and turned on in Jan. 08.

The problem expressed is related to the possibility of the LHC creating a micro black hole by accident. Thus this way it been used as a vehicle, to predict the forcomming of the doomsday in Dec. 08.

As foretold in Nostradamus, the beginning of the end will be seen in the sky over Geneva, before we are swallowed.

So as the world population will reach the magic number of the beast 6.6.6 bill. people. It plays into the hand of Revelations:13 of the bible.

Now how this all ties together for the Illuminati, would be another guestion. I think they'll use the magic number, in another way completely. However their vision of it, does not include their destruction, so that's good news for some and not for others.

I 'm having a tough time considering, if I should be happy about handing over the world, to a bunch of powerhungry slavedrivers. To live as a thoroughbred race, with all it's implications. Or die as a species, in a science-project gone bad. Maybe the Lord will take the problem of our hands.?

Or maybe ET's......

the electricity will be turned on at 03:36 Sept 10 2008 when they will introduce 6 billion particles into the Hedron collider and accelerate them to just below the speed of light, at which point a 17 mile radius somewhere between Lucerne and Cern will immediately be enveloped in a torus tube charge sucking what is left of the ancient Luciferian church into the vortex of the torus!!! (this effect will only last for a fraction of a second). however instead of generating a black hole..a torus tube Will be the result and we will then find out what happens when a handful of heshan soldiers encounter a high carbon steel target near the speed of light will we only return to the sedate quality diet of yogurt and bulgar wheat. 10 Sept 2008, not October--

So, if the Hadron Collider creates a black hole and sucks in the entire planet (which it wont) what do I think of it, you ask?

I don't care. Honestly, ive posted this in another thread. If its the end of the world, who gives a poop?

Excuse the vulgarity, but on my Facebook account, my headline is actually "I hope CERN rapes the world so I don't have to worry about my future anymore."

If the world gets sucked into a massive black hole (which it wont, and if it does, why does that guarantee death?) then nobody ever has to worry about anything anymore. No more war, no more national debt, no more starving children in Africa, no more cancer, aids, etc. I wont have to get a job after college and wont have to pay my loans back, haha!!

Hey man, Hakuna Matata. Just don't worry about it.
