"recent posts" organization

I recently sent an E-Mail to ATS about a possible system of organization of the "recent posts" section. I probably should have posted this before sending the letter, but...
Anyway, my idea was to find a different way to organize the recent posts in a way that is used in many file-sharing programs, allowing you to view your topics by popularity, flags, time posted, replys, etc.
I was just wondering what other people thought of this
