True True

But we were dealing with an awesome war machine keep in mind that we had to land from the sea with our backs to the water

"It is better to remain silent and appear ignorant than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt"

Obviously most of us here have never been close to a war. If they had they would not be so quick to throw around such careless and disrespectful statements hidden behind humor because they lack the courage of conviction.

Why don't you try telling your jokes to a Legionnaire and see if he laughs. I'm confident that his edification would be very swift and memorable.

It's very strange that the gallant French soldier is so often refered to as a 'coward'. I wonder if anyone that talks such rubbish has the nerve to walk into a French Military Cemetery, where thousands upon thousands of French soldiers lay and look down at their graves and actually say 'You bloody cowards'!!
How odd that alongside the French soldier, thousands of British soldiers were taken prisoner in France and over 300,000 English soldiers retreated to Dunkirk and back to England and in our history books, they're all heroes.
We seem to write and tell history depending on where we live. Even to a point that we mock our own Allies as cowards. Disgusting!!

Back to the topic at hand... Several people have brought up valid points about the amount of deployments the French have underwent recently and it's effect on general equipment failure. Beyond that though the French unlike us have a future soldier system too... the difference being theirs is about half to a third the weight, ACTUALLY WORKS, and is going to be issued. Also beyond that for a long time now the bogeyman that every warship crewman in the US has nightmares about has been the exocet missile, a product of france. Overall I personally think almost all of the standing militaries are doing very poorly at equipping their forces right now with systems that just plain are too complicated to survive warfare. Saying France is the only one with problems would be ignoring the MASSES of Abrams, bradley's, Generators, and etc the US miitary is freighting back to the states in hopes of restoring them to functionallity.
