Why do you get promoted faster in the Air division ?

Are you talking about becoming a pilot ?

Administration ?

Air force defense guard ?

Ok so If your actually planning on doing this.
Why would you post it on ATS?
The fact that you said that you want to join the military to learn "secret Information"
Will propably be a big disidadvantage to you.
Considering anything you post on the internet can be traced back to you.
So you posting this is like when you go to the recruiters office and they ask you why you want to join.
And you say because you want to learn Secret Info.
I doubt they would hire you.
So you should propably not post anything on the internet unless you can take full resonsiblity for saying it.

But I still wish you all the best.

Like i tried to say in a earlier post which seems to have disappeared...

How on earth can they trace this thread back to me...?

This in not my internet account, it is a shared account a few of us use to log into, it's not in my name, neither do I ever use my real name on the net...

So how would they know this is me posting on this thread ?

Dude, dont let these people discourage you. I would venture to say that they have never held a security clearance and never been in the military.

Its really not that difficult to work on some pretty cool stuff, even as a junior enlisted. I would suggest going into Comm or something along those lines....

Definitely stay away from Infantry....that would be a huge mistake. Also, dont listen to people talking about posting on ATS will preclude your from getting any kind of clearance or working any job, because it just doesnt.....period.

So you want to join the military with a view to gaining secret information through deception and subterfuge? what exactly do you plan to do with this information?

You see the thing is, the gaining of official information for non-official means through these means has a special name in the military.

We call it Spying.

It also has its' own special punishments, which you'll find out about if caught.

Considering the fact that in the air force you fly about in planes, you spend much less time actually out on missions.

In otherwords, you get more missions to make up for this. thus ensuring a faster rate of promotion.

One would have thought this would be common sense...

It's perfectly reasonable, you crazy fool.

In the air force, you fly from an air base to your objective, and back again once your objective has been acheived, whereas in the military you go out on patrols and generally spend a lot of time going to and from the location of the mission.

Instead of trying to figure out how i'm wrong, why don't you apply some of that brain power to figure out how i might be right.

Although of course, that would be constructive, wouldn't it?

I've been avoiding threads you've posted in for obvious reasons (we don't seem to get along or agree)... but, having grown up in military families, a good portion of my friends have joined military, and living most of my life in a military town, I really have to ask you:

What are you going to do with the information once you get it? Are you going to release it to the world as a good Samaritan? I just don't understand, if you are (and you seem) reasonably intelligent, why you would announce your intention on a global board?

Oh... if they do ever consider you for such a high clearance position (not to dissuade you), it is relatively easy for intelligence to find out you have posted on this board. You have posted enough times for someone to make a personality match... It's the truth. Don't underestimate them.

On a recommendation, don't do MP, or any foot soldier type of work. Your occult family can't stop a bullet from hitting you in the field... too high risk, and most don't get very high in ranks. I'd suggest Air Force (American name) Intelligence. Probably the easiest way to get special clearances. I have a buddy that won't even talk to me about any more than his boot camp experience and a small portion of his Intel training. Any more, I just don't bring it up. All he did was comm Intercept. That, from what I can tell, is THE way to go. All intercepts go through your hands first on the way to be filed. GL!

Thanks for the info...

And for the record, I wasn't planning on being a good samaritan and divulging all i've learned to the world...i'm selfish that way..

I'm doing it for myself, no other reason.

For the last time people...

They DO NOT care if you post on ATS or any website like that....they do not check your web activity when investigating you for any kind of security clearance .

Some jobs in the ADF will get you cleared to the highest levels possible pretty much right after you enlist during your category training. Once you have been granted a TS-PV, then everything is compartmentalised after that, and you are briefed on capabilites or projects on a need to know basis. Regrettably, in Australia there is also the "need to be mates" syndrome with a lot of people, and you'll here about all sorts of stuff through innuendo and quiet talks the longer you are in the trade.

SIGINT/ELINT jobs are the way to go if you are interested in getting cleared relatively early in your career. Just be honest during your vetting process and bar any direct associations or family connections with know subversives, you'll get through.

Australia is an egalitarian society that respects diversity in many ways, and the policies of the ADF reflect this. You can be a gay, socialist pidgeon fancier and they won't care - just as long as you tell them about it. The vetting process is all about identifying anything that could be used against you to exploit you at a later date - as long as they know about all of your deep, dark secrets, then there's (generally) nothing that can be used against you.

Having said all that, once you are on the "inside" you'll most likely be disappointed when you have access to the nations secrets. Most of them in the military are to do with capabilities...

Perhaps you want to consider a career in ASIS or somewhere like that instead? Who know's what dirty laundry you'd get to wash there?

I'll be joining the Australian Military soon, for personal reasons, and also in the hopes of getting into a position to gain some inside knowledge of secret military projects.

Pine Gap, secret underground bases, black ops etc.

This thread is directed more to ex military guys, or military buffs who can give me some advice...

But i'd appreciate anyone's opinion.

What department in the military would I have to join to stand the best chance of gaining access / knowledge of secret projects etc ?

I know the intelligence field is one option, but i'm not exactly the smartest guy around...My IQ is a bit above average

What would you guys say are my best options ?

Ok the first thing you did wrong is post what you are doing onto a website which gets numerous thousand of hits per day. Which includes some government members.

Yes the military will check if they find information being leaked into the public. They will have a search engine and just type in information identical to what has been said and it will come up with a list of keywords.

I understand your reasoning for this. However, I must give you this fair warning. Going into the military with these intentions will most likely get you nowhere near what you desire. Why? Because in order to get close to what you seek you will have to undergo MANY tests and procedures that WILL weed out these intentions. It was better for me when I simply went in, scored extremely high on their tests, was assigned to an intel team, and then befriended all of the brass I worked around. You learn a lot of things that way because it is human nature to want to 'hint' at what you know. I have been guilty of this at times myself. I am really trying to avoid that now more and more.

Anyway, if you want to get into something exciting you will want to try R&D or operations. Both will probably require some type of decent testing with a bit of experience or schooling in said fields.

Just to let you know. Sometimes you won't like what you find. You may think that it is wanted but when you get your hands on it you may actually find that you really really wished you hadn't.

Good luck my friend. I hope you keep us posted but then you will be breaking roughly every oath you will be taking in order to get into this position. You don't want to get caught doing that.

Why dont you apply some of that brain power and realize how wrong you are. There are MANY MANY jobs within the Air Force that have NOTHING to do with jets and many people in the Air Force never deploy or step foot on a military aircraft.

Good Lord.

And to the OP....just because you join up and want a certain job....it doesnt mean you will get it.

In the American military, they have a certain number of slots for jobs....when you sign up (or retrain). I know many who wanted certain jobs and had to wait YEARS to retrain and hope that job was open at the time of retraining.

As far as "intelligent" jobs. Well, you can try and get a job like that, but there are so many factors involved in getting it, I could only say "good luck" with that one.

I will ditto what most people said here....including PokeyJoe: You posting here or other such places would never be an issue in getting clerance...I know this as FACT
as I know a few people who post here and other similar places with VERY high security clearances.

Good Luck in whatever you decide!
