Fox hires controversial talker to fill evening time slot

rawstory.com

truggling to hold on to viewers in an early-evening time slot, Fox News has decided to give a controversial right-wing radio host a trial run hosting a new show.

The New York Times reports that conservative talker Laura Ingraham will join a rotating series of personalities on a new 5 p.m. program. Network executives “appear to be grooming her as a new talent for the network,” according to the report.

Laura Ingraham is a great talk show host in MY book. I have to say I am going to watch Fox because of this now.

Side-Note: Don't know if this is alternative, I think it is because she talks about a lot of controversial topics, if not, please move it

I love Laura Ingraham.

She's the serious, intellectual analyst as compared to Ann Coulter's truly controversial, satirical, witty, analytical style.

Fox will benefit greatly from her presence on the network.

Let me slap-down this "I love Laura Ingraham" party. She has the brain-power of a small krutzouli. I am sure they are proud of her at Stepford.

If you like conservative right wing propaganda then it will be a good fit. I don't think it will help there ratings though. Americans are seeing this type of news especially fox for what it is and many are being turned off by it, hence the poor ratings.

Yea, she's classy and evil, just like the rest of them who carry the NWO torch on radio and FAUX.

Just another talking head, slimmer than Rush Limberger.

Since when does looks make a person right?????

You're getting all shallow on us.

Fox News already has the highest ratings by a wide margin, in spite of being shown on fewer cable systems nationwide. I don't always watch a lot of it, as I have grown tired of the talking heads on the politico shows.

Still, they remain far more balanced than their competition.

Laura Ingraham is an excellent choice, she's entertaining, funny and very sharp. She is no right wing whacko, far from it. She'll take on bad politicians regardless of their party. It's hardly her fault that most of the loonies are Democrats, there are plenty of Republicans to take on as well.

If one has listened to her radio show, then you'd know her style.

I'll watch, if I have the time. I love to listen to Laura in the morning when I get the chance.

Her critics most likely haven't listened to her, and they won't watch her either. They know they would then have no ammunition to call her a propagandist or a right winger. That sort of description couldn't be further from the truth.

I watched her recently when she did a week filling in for O'Reilly when he was on vacation. She was excellent! More entertaining that O'Reilly IMO, and he's got the highest ratings of anyone, higher than all of his competition combined, in fact.

This will only increase their ratings and I'm happy to see her get this opportunity.

competition? What the whole rest of the world? Fox News is the most biased cable news network. Observation tells me this, not repetitious double speak.

NEW YORK - June 10, 2008 - MSNBC continued its ratings surge last week, with viewers flocking out of the “No Spin Zone” and to “The Place for Politics.” For the first time ever, MSNBC’s “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” was the #1 show at 8 p.m., out-drawing Fox News’s “O’Reilly Factor” head-to-head among Adults 25-54. This is the first time since June 2001 that MSNBC has out-rated “The O’Reilly Factor” at 8 p.m.

Excluding Tuesday’s primary coverage, “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” averaged 477,000 A25-54 vs. 472,000 for the “Factor.”

My observation would be that you are a left leaning individual.

Oh boy! That one time in the last 8 years. Wow! I suspect that has more to do with the Obamessiah worshipers than anything else. Please.

Even the Clinton people have said publicly that Fox was by far the most fair to all the candidates.

Never thought I'd hear that from the Clintons.

MSNBC has been in the tank for Obama since day one, so for now, they are drawing his followers as viewers. They don't want to know the truth, just the cheer leading for Obama.

As far as the other spurious comment regarding white sheets and pointy hats........... That was uncalled for. It added nothing to the thread and led me to wonder what sort of racist would post that.

This thread is about Laura, I gave my opinion on her. I'm sure you guys won't give her a fair shake, people like you guys don't tend to be able to do that. In order to give a proper assessment, once must first throw out previous assumptions and start from scratch, from there one can form an opinion from an unbiased position. You've shown you don't have the ability to do that.

I'm not going to waste any more time on this. When one argues with fools, it often becomes difficult to tell the difference. Feel free to continue your mudslinging amongst yourselves.

I watch Fox occasionally, but besides the transparent right leaning agenda, masquerading as fair and balanced; the cartoon graphics, the overdubbed "whoosh" and "zing" sound background; It looks and sounds more like a Saturday Morning kiddie show than a news channel. It's an aesthetic thing with me.

But I really like the big lipped women "news" readers!!!

I think Laura is just like the rest of em; pretending to be a conservative for the ratings. As the tide turns watch her become more moderate. And I don't find her offensive.

hey i've just came down to your level...my friend...this is the image you face in the mirror every day and apparently you don't like it when it talks back. the republicans in the last 8 years have drove this country into the crapper and they still want american people to vote for another republican president? lets see....(head hurts with repeated hits, solution: keep hitting head)

I've been running across her dulcet tones for years here on the radio and I've listened just for the heck of it and she seems like a right winged talking head....why would FOx hire her if she had merit and truth to what she says?

If one were to follow a logical line of reasoning, it would seem that perhaps Fox is not as "fair and balanced" as it claims to be. Its' main adherents tend to lean right, and for good reason. It's a network that caters almost strictly to a highly conservative audience.

For a good reason? You mean like screaming at the blatantly brain rotting left-wing BS the MSM has spewed since the 60's? You mean screaming REALITY at the idiots that continue to hijack American values and spread embarrasment and hatred towards our own success? You mean we listen to Fox news because they actually present a point of view anyone with as frickin' brain comes to naturally- way before they "pound us with Propaganda"?

And it's getting worse and worse. Castro and Ahmiadinijad are OK but we're not talking to Fox News. What a bunch of lunatics!

I've finally come to the realization that the Dems aren't ruining the country single handedly- in fact, it's WAY more YOUR FAULT you constitution haters!

If I could afford to send half of you to China, I'd send all of you half way!
