What is wrong with the United States of America? When did this insanity start?

The insanity I'm speaking of is overlooking incident after incident after incident of if not outright illegal then at least totally questionable acts by this administration.

o Knowing about the threat of 9/11 beforehand and doing NOTHING*
o 9/11 Commission
o Yellowcake and Plame Incidents
o Dubai Ports Incident
o Invasion of a sovereign nation
o Attorney firings
o Border guards jailed
o Exploiting terror for political and corporate gain
o Voting fraud
o Mercenary armies
o Lack of equipment for troops
o Deploying National Guard
o Missing billions in Iraq
o Blatant corporate crony-ism
o Halliburton violating sanctions and staying in Iran
o Contracting agency sole oversight for government contracting
o Stoploss and backdoor drafts
o Katrina atrocities (too numerous to list)
o IRS waste
o Accusing Americans of being traitors
o Budget deficits
o Job losses
o Price of oil and worst still no plan to deal with getting off it
o VA scandals
o FISA violations
o Spying on Americans
o Vilifying and humiliating anyone who stood in their way by telling the truth
o Pandering to the extreme religious right at the expense of all others
o Lies lies and more lies
o And the list goes on...

What administration has ever perpetrated so many agregious acts and what population has ignored them all time after time? And why have these acts been barely investigated or swept under the rug?

And this doesn't even begin to get into the more subtle human factors analysis of just how disrespectful and callous Cheney and Bush's behaviour has been. I'm sure most of you know what I mean here...joking about WMD when our troops are dying over there for that very reason. Things like that.

Are we really this sedated or apathetic as a nation?

Are we simply overwhelmed because there are just too many of these atrocities taking place?

Are we ignorant? (Probably so as most people only know what the media wants them to know.)

Are we too busy trying to make ends meet?

Some of all of the above?

Seriously. What is wrong with this country and its people? And its Congress?

What hold or holds does this administration have over Congress members that they are so literally paralyzed? Just fear? Blackmail? What?

And are these people going to get away with all their crimes because "oh it's too late and sigh just too much trouble to impeach and the nations still weary from the Clinton impeachment."

Thoughts? Other examples? What can we DO?! Especially now when faced with yet another dubious choice of presidential candidates who we know damn well will be controlled the same way Mr. Bush was.

Sorry for the rant but I'm just so angry and frustrated, and I'm sure a lot of other Americans are too. What kind of example are we setting for our children too?

Heaven knows they're going to have enough to face to crawl out of this mess.

I agree any country in the world could have a list like that. Most countries list would be twice as long though. Also it seems that there is alot of Canadians on this website. Is there a special reason why or is it just coincidence?

The leaders of every country consistently lie to their people and break the laws of their nation while lining their pockets and the pockets of their friends, primarily with taxpayer money? Seriously?

And. If this is true then what's wrong with ALL the people?! Seriously. Governments are ours to run. They are not meant to run us.

I would say that damn near every other country is guilty of alot of this if not more, but i am sure their are some that aren't.

Anyway, the US is suppose to be the great and mighty moral country, the leaders of the world, we are suppose to be showing the way. What has happened in this country is definitely not showing the proper path nor leading by example. We wanna go over and rid other countries of tyrants and abolish the laws that are limiting its people and yet recently the government is doing the exact opposite here. But its ok because most people aren't really losing any rights and the acts that supposedly limit our rights are for our own security.

Cute list. Glad to see someone is spending some quality time out there.

How about China? Didn't see a list about them. You know, work camps, forced labor, The Cultural Revolution, what about the Tiananmen Square protests? Remember that one? Where pro-democracy protesters were supressed? NSA said about 180-500 were killed.

How about Russia? Stalin, the gulags, force labor, the starving of the people in the Ukraine. Just touching on a few of their historical highlights.

sorry. i happen to live in this country and believe it's tme we put some focus on getting our own house in order before we keep running around the globe disrupting other houses. get my drift? but i see that my short attention span theory seems to be holding together. distractions are everywhere...scatter and be ineffective everywhere.

I can see your point. In other countries, most of them have historically been this way, but not out of short attention span. Rather, I think it's just simply tyranny. In the U.S., we are supposed to be For the People, BY the People, and we seemed to have forgotten that. Since we forget it, higher powers can exploit it until someone remembers and makes a ruckus... then, while they are in a tangent, something else comes up for them to shout about, and the last 'mission' is utterly forgotten again.
