So how would everyone feel about mandatory periodic testing? It certainly would remove "accidental" spreading of diseases.
I dont think it would. Uninfected people would still knowingly have sex with infected people thinking "I wont get it," people would still lie about being infected, or neglect to mention it. (unless we made them wear a scarlet "H") People with the cold sore version would still kiss their children when they were asymptomatic but shedding virus. (Or have oral sex and potentially spread the herpes simplex 1 to their partners mouth/genitals)
Maybe new york needs a sex ed lesson.
Why anyone lets any person come near them after being told they have this disease, is a mystery.
Most people infected with HSV-2 are not aware of their infection.

Buck Division: Herpes is not just "some sore spots in sensitive areas".
It is the cause of cervical and oral cancers.

HPV infection. Approximately 20 million Americans are currently infected with HPV, and another 6.2 million people become newly infected each year. At least 50% of sexually active men and women acquire genital HPV infection at some point in their lives.
The work links a form of the ApoE gene known as ApoE-4, which after advanced age is the leading known risk factor for getting Alzheimer's disease, with the form of herpes – herpes simplex 1 or HSV – that infects
more than 80 percent of Americans and causes cold sores around the mouth. The findings from a group at the University of Rochester Medical Center show that the particular form of the gene that puts people at risk also creates a fertile environment for herpes in the brain, allowing the virus to be more active than other forms of the ApoE gene permit.

I'm not even freaking kidding. Can I get a source or something on this Jessica Alba/herpes thing? Please?
All I can find is references to what some "former assistant" said. Is this confirmed? I hate my life...

Woowww I'm sorry a little joke ruined your day so badly that you had to resort to a personal attack instead of just skipping past it and reporting it to a moderator.
Considering I made the posts a day ago and they're still up, I'm guessing it didn't bother them that much.
You want my grown-up opinion on the topic? Here it is. It's rough, you'll hate it, you'll think I'm a monster, but whatever. You asked.
Our society has glorified the sluts.
The "cool guy" is the one that bangs the most "chicks,"
the girl that all the guys like is the one that will sleep with every last one of them.
We put this notion in our movies, on our TV, in our music, on the Internet, and any other medium you can think of. We talk about it at work, school, the bar, and anywhere else. I know you've heard it at work before, "Oh, if you're having a party you've GOT to invite Judy from accounting, she'll give us some entertainment!"
or maybe you remember conversations from school like, "Did you hear Mikey got a threesome with those cheerleaders?!"
Bottom line: We tolerate this view, as a whole.
As a whole, we perpetuate this stigma that you aren't cool if you aren't disgusting. As a whole, we reap what we sow.
