By now people should know that there are a lot of clean energy options. The middle class of the western world could run an electric car off sunlight
in all but the cloudiest climates, and even those have the option for hydrogen hybrids or personal generators. Without even going into tesla tech
there is enough proven technology prototyped, tested and developed to solve the oil dependancy without even touching biofuels, which can be good or
bad depending on what is used to make them (corn is a no no) but will never be as plentifull as other more direct sources and will tend to result in
monopolisation overtime. People need to talk with their wallets and focus on electric and hydrogen technology, and stop buying new cars as well as
researching hydrogen conversion, electric conversion and hydrogen hybrids for existing viehicles.
If people can wake up to the technology and focus on getting it, we can have the world off oil in 5 years. And it really is a personal choice, don't
buy a new car, ever, unless it burns the fuel you want. That will put economic pressure on those who hold patents for alternative stuff to take them
out of mothballs.
As I write this CNN reports the Saudis are having a meeting to debate "unwarranted price hikes in oil", so you can see they are already starting to
get edgy and realise that the energy cut off might not work in their interest this time, it's harder to pull off artificial scarcity in the
information age.
I've been reading up on energy alternatives for a while and do realise now that this whole oil economy was one big con. The sooner we get off it the
sooner we will have more widespread peace in the world, and can focus on the other less immediate problems.
