If you follow the word of God and the Bible, shouldn't you be rewarded with an easier life. Why is it that most church going people and
followers of the Bible live a life that is so poor and struggling?
Jesus said:
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it
more abundantly.
Jesus promised that those who follow Him would have life more abundantly.
But this promise is only for those who follow HIM. (IE: Do what He says...) A mere confession doesn't do it. A follower of Jesus needs to do what He
commanded:
Luke 6:46-49
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently
upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49 But he that heareth,
and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat
vehemently, and immediately it fell;
and the ruin of that house was great.
Here we have a perfect example of someone knowing what Jesus said to do...and not doing it...and suffering disaster. And please note that Jesus
wasn't talking about atheists or some cult here, He was plainly talking about those who call HIM (Jesus) "Lord, Lord". These were people who had a
confession that Jesus was Lord, but didn't do what He said to do.
In another Gospel, He says a similar thing:
Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in
heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many
wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
With this being said, I read on in your post:
My mother was an Ordained Minister and she separated from my father when I was ten years old.
"Ordained Minister"? Your mom was an Ordained Minister?
Did she ever read:
1 Cor 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as
also saith the law.
or
1 Tim 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
There aren't any woman preachers/teachers in my Bible. It is against what the Bible teaches.
Someone may say, "Well that's no big deal...it doesn't really matter that much...it's a tiny little thing"
Jesus replies:
Luke 16:10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much:
and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in
much.
Disobeying a clear doctrine in Scripture and doing it in such a public display is an offense to the Church and to God. It is an outright scandal and
would have never happened 100 years ago.
I don't know 'why' your mom died at such an early age. I am just going on your report, here, and your report says your mom clearly and openly
violated what the Bible says to do (or NOT do).
Luke 16:10 (above) says it better...and explains it better.
You asked a blunt question...and then you said "Lay it on me".
