I have observed a sharp decline in postings to this particular forum. Just weeks ago it was regularly active with cavalcades of Masons, "anti-Masons," and interested individuals alike -- all skirmishing -- and now all but a very small minority have just up and vanished and the forum is practically snapped.

I know ATS content is member generated and I in no way insinuate that this is anything to do with the staff or ownership, but what has happened here? Perhaps a forum will randomly become quiet for equally random intervals, but I'm wondering if the Masons and anti-Masons haven't secretly met up somewhere and shot each other to bits?

Peculiar. I see that this thread is now unclosed and that you have modified your initial response.

What's the situation, here, Skyfloating?

Its secret

But kidding aside: The ATS Issues thread is for Issues against ATS...which is not the case here. So I was mistaken in closing it.

Nevertheless my response remains the same: Nothing big here. Every Forum experiences its seasonal ups and downs.

Cardassian!

It's not an issue, you're right; it's just a question about a specific forum. I considered saying this to you in a private message but then decided against it.

That is indeed an perhaps. I wrote of this in the initial posting. But still I consider the possibility that a skirmish has been fought. Opposite ends of the spectrum at opposite ends of a field.

And then the guns...

Easy answer. It's coming up to summertime. People are taking vacation. Ebb and flow, happens in most forums. Aliens/UFO's seems to be exempt though.

Ah, yes. Another perhaps, Intrepid. Do you propose, then, that they were all working for the spaceships? I never understood the holiday season because, well... I never go on holiday.

P.S.

Did you manage to find out about the law regarding existing characters and the LSWC?

Waiting on a response. I'll shoot it to you when I know.

Sure would be quite interesting to see some type of graph displaying the activity of the Secret Societies forum over the last 6-8 months.

Listen, I'm not saying I'm right, but it looks to me at this time like there has been a relatively sharp decline in postings.

Err went and lost my post, so I'll make this short I have seen the forums do this, as said above it's just the flow of the site, some stats would be cool but I don't know the ins and outs of that.
I think you or others may see a decline in thread activity because, now this is just my opinion but the majority of members who post in the SS forum are American men. This is the US vacation season so I would guess there doing there thing. The UFO forum on the other hand appeals to both sexes and ages.

edit

some BoardStats not what you are looking for but interesting to some.

Yeah those darn Aliens/UFO's posters are so uptight because they never take a vacation! Just kidding peepz!

Coming over here, taking over the world and killing our forum

If that was aimed at me, Infinite, then you should probably know that I'm not an "anti-mason," and that was not at all what I was implying with this thread, Sir.

no, it wasn't and I really fail to see how it could be interrupted as being aimed at you or anyone

Because I wrote the thread -- titled "Who Killed The Secret Societies Forum?" -- and I really don't see who else you could have been talking to, considering what you said. Were you talking to yourself, for no reason, then, Sir? Answer wisely.

Well, it is not difficult to read and clearly see I wrote "those bloody masons" not "that bloody Cadbury"

Anyway, its summer time: ATS slows down.

The "snake pit" will be back up and running with masons and anti-masons flaming each other about mid August/September.

I'm insulted you consider me such an idiot as to lace me with something like that. I honestly am.

ATS does indeed slow down somewhat during the summer. I've been here for 4 or perhaps even 5 of them. And I may very well be wrong in thinking there has been a decline in activity in the Secret Societies forum, I'm not denying that at all. But I noticed what I thought to be a decline and thought I'd ask a question about it anyway. I don't notice a great deal of inactivity in any other forum.

As the question that initiated this thread has been answered to the best of our ability, this thread will be closed.

Cadbury, I think you really have answered your own question when you stated "member generated". ATS has it's ups and downs...

Quancast Rankings
...And as patterns can be seen throughout micro/macro illustrations, it stands to reason that the Secret Societies forum would experience similar fluctuations.

Though the image of the a West Side Story scenario playing out between the Masons and Anti's has the potential for a great satirical piece...

As for the remark made by infinite, I too agree that it is difficult to infer any malicious intent on his part. The internet is a place where inflection can be lost in the decidedly two dimensional means of expression we have available. I wish that you would reconsider your offense to what I perceive as a non personal post...

Maybe people are just too caught up in the politics of the presidential race? The two-party system, I fear, is more of an elitist and power-hungry group than most of the so-called secret societies! I for one get easily bored with the Mason-Anti-Mason bickering, though I do enjoy reasonable debate on both sides of the spectrum. As you may guess from my other interests, I am very positively inclined to so-called "occult" knowledge but I have little tolerance for conspiracies that seek to enslave mankind!

I see this thread has been re-opened again after it was closed (for the second time) for a month without reason or reasonable explanation. A moderator said "thread closed," closed it, but then came back and edited "thread closed" out of the post whilst leaving the thread shut! A most, most unusual behavement indeed.

Shipovfools, I'm sticking to my theory, Sir. Sorry. I still reckon both parties agreed to meet secretly and have a war, killing most of each other off with hand-bombs, guns and bayonets. It is the only logical conclusion we may draw at this time. Also, a re-enactment of the battle written and directed by Patrick Stewart (one of the sole survivors) is scheduled to begin filming in early 2010. The cast is still to be announced.

So we know from this that an event like the one I described did, indeed, occur. Stewart was there.
