Mexico asks World Court to block executions in U.S.

ap.google.com

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) — Mexico appealed to the U.N.'s highest court Thursday to block the executions of Mexicans in the United States, arguing U.S. officials have failed to comply with a judgment ordering a review of their trials.

The International Court of Justice said Mexico asked the court for an "interpretation" of an earlier ruling to clarify its meaning when it asked the U.S. to "review and reconsider" the cases of the condemned prisoners.

This is un-jusice! If an American goes to Mexico and steals a packet of hot sauce, they're locked away and forgotten about. If an American goes to Mexico and kills someone, you can bet money that you're not going to have our government step in and stop your execution. If a Mexican commits a crime in the United States they deserve the exact same treatment that an American gets for commiting the same crime. This is sickening!

Doesnt Mexico know that we are fully capable of murdering people on our own? Tis academic, as in, we-already-know-what-we-are-doing-so-leave-us-alone!

Exactly. When the U.S. became very powerful and the other counties of the world could no longer influence them to any great extent they got together and started forming international organizations such as the world court in the hopes of using it to gain power or influence over U.S. When the U.S. does not play along they throw a tantrum over it and act like a little bossy 5 year old girl thats mad because the other kids won't do exactly what she tells them to do.

It is one thing to use the world court to try people like Saddam, but to have this court try to tell the U.S. what their domestic laws will be? Not going to happen. We recognize the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. There is no other law above it. (Except for God, if you are religious)

It's what the U.S had been doing since they became "World Police." They are talking about Mexican citizens in the U.S being executed IN the U.S. I think it is sickening. U.S is the one that has to shut up... all they have done is ---- up everything in the world...

granted GWB/cheney are current failures . Carter and Brezinsky actually caused most of the problems today by impowering muslim extremists when they dumped support for shah of iran just because he played rough against those extremists and also soviet communist agents( brezinski's friends).
so they backed the ayatollah who then supported hezbollah against lebanon .
the soviets invaded afghanistan-notice how this areas are still in the news?
the world was a messed place long before there ever was a U.S.of A ,my friend
and it still won't be paradise even if america becomes isolationist .
in fact most of the antiwestern vitriol comes from people who never lived in a
soviet or chinese occupied police state nor an islamic tribal society as a
subjegated citizen.people vote with their feet , not their mouth .

Sorry but the US must not be all that bad...MILLIONS flock here yearly to be a part of this so called "bad/evil" place..lol. All I can say is..Mexico needs to Police itself and clean up their own ----! As soon as people WANT to stay or can afford to stay in Mexico THEN let the government act so concerned! It amazes me...Mexico is such a ----hole that people die trying to leave it for something better, yet do nothing to better their own...but still blame the US for things. If that country was SOOOO worried about its citizens they would make a better life for their people....but instead they take the easy road...don't fix their mess, just keep blaming everyone else...ESPECIALLY the USA...the country that educates, pays, and allows your people to live, work, and play without giving anything back! Yeah...we are just so mean and nasty...give me a break....

If by "above" you mean morally superior and constitutionally biased, and by "everyone else" you mean sovereignty violating international organizations led and funded by international bankers who are hell bent on one world government, then yes, you are absolutely right.

Thats the point. Apply sarcasm to Baxtoriafall's post and you will get what he/she is really saying.

Baxtoriafall, that made me laugh. Nice.

On topic, this is a bunch of garbage. I say if the Mexicans are guilty, you execute them. Same with Americans.

I'm sick of hearing this anti-death penalty crying. If you kill someone, you get killed. Its only fair.

"But it doesn't deter crime!!!!1" Yeah and neither do murder laws and the thought of spending the rest of your life in prison with a cell mate who is sexually deprived. Why is that excuse only used against the death penalty? I see nothing else deterring crime either.

People are going to do what they are going to do, and on a nation wide scale, we can't stop it. But the least we can do is give them an equal punishment that they gave to their victims.

Maybe Mexico should start worrying about the hundreds of Mexican police officers getting executed by drug cartels before they worry about who gets executed in the U.S.

As much as I find the death penalty an odious tool and immoral, it is still the independent right of the United States of America to determined its own method for dealing with criminals.

No nation or international organisation should not be imposing an unelected dictorial power over anyone.

Anyways, the World Court is a toothless tiger. Most of the nations signed up to the Court pay no attention to the regulation and directives issued.
