Why am I labeled racist for being proud of my white heritage ?

I was beginning to wonder...

Wow...so much vitriol. Waah, waah...I'm white, I'm sooooo picked on...

Oh, please to stop the silliness. Oh, bye the bye, with every post they make, several here in are proving beyond a doubt that they are indeed, (gasp) rascist.

Pride in one's heritage is cool, it all depends upon how you express that pride. Most "white pride" parades, in my experiance, wind up becoming megaphone wielding rants against "mud people" or the evil "Jooooos", or homosexuals, or whatever flavor of the day bogeyman strikes their fancy. Then the lovely little paranoids top off their exciting day by screaming "white power" or some equally stupid slogan...

Italian-american. African-american. German-american. Irish-american. Who cares? Howzabout just plain American? Same goes for any country that has a deep multicultural culture. Identifying with where your great granddad and grandmother came from back in the day is all very well and good, but it may keep one from experiancing what other cultures have to offer.

Do it, or don't...it matters not in the end. You are hurting no one but yourself by languishing in your self imposed racial isolation...

What? Now you are grasping at straws. First of all you are comparing an entire race to a surname, "jews" vs "smiths".

As I said, Jews make up 2% of the US Population. That's not a very "big background" for an entire race of people.

Yet they make up 75%+ of politicians and 90%+ of media in the US?

Come on. There's a conspiracy here by the elite, who are Jewish.

Keep denying it though and return to your brainwashing by the elite. I don't care, I'm just trying to educate you.

I just find it hard to believe you can be so close-minded on a CONSPIRACY site like ATS and deny that there is a conspiracy going on, when it's so blatantly obvious.

Fact is, we can't segregate the population. It's impossible, the most we'll get is minority groups isolated to ghettos, which we already know doesn't work.

Meanwhile, that's what most minorities have had to deal with for hundreds of years.

Now, there are some who decided it would be a good idea to start something. Here's a short list.

And it's almost like race relations have actually gotten better between races because of these absolutely polarizing figures and events in history. After all, who wants to side with a guy who has no problem blowing up a daycare center to make his point.

And as for white people not being allowed to celebrate their heritage, Have you ever been to Boston on St. Patrick's Day? No problem there at all.

The issue doesn't come when people proclaim pride in their people, it comes when people proclaim the racial superiority of their people, when the people at those types of rallies usually wouldn't get the 400 SAT points for spelling their name correctly.

Why should you be proud of your skin color? You didn't choose it. You didn't work extra hard to be born with whatever colored skin you have. It's not a reward for anything.

This question is directed at *EVERYONE* who marches in a racial pride parade, not just white people or the OP or any other group.

Be proud of your own individual accomplishments, and things you had a direct hand in doing. Pride in anything else is unjustified. Being proud of your "family history" or your "racial background" is like being proud of discovering that lightning is electricity because you and Benjamin Franklin both wore glasses.

This is exactly why race cant be discussed in a civil manner.

I get worked up, not because i think blacks are better than whites
and not because i think that whites are better than blacks
but because i see topics like this turn into the very thing that makes the issue of race a problem

it becomes white people saying "IM NOT RACIST because...black people did this"

and vise versa for black people

For the record, Islam is a religion, not a race. The so called discrimination you've suffered is a religious one.

It's ironic, you would have no qualms about calling hitler evil for his supposed extermination of the jews and his supposed eugenics programs, but you have no problem exterminating every other race and just creating "one race" of "one color".

But in reality, here in San Antonio I pay no attention to race and everything is perfectly fine. There is virtually one Hispanic for every one White person in this city and it doesn't bother me or anyone I know. There is a lot of Hispanic pride here out in the open, but no one would dare wave "White Pride" banners from their doors.

However, I'm not entirely sure that's a bad thing. Should we be proud of our history as White people? The African Slave Trade, the Brutal Mass Murdering of Native Americans, etc. I'm not really sure.

First of all, Jews are white........ I hate to be the one to break it to you. As for your numbers, I'd love to see where you got them from. I don't see 75% of politicians being Jewish. Do you mean Senate? Congress? President? Supreme Court?

That's quite a stretch comparing race with items such as glasses.

I'm proud of what my race as accomplished. I'm part of that race.

Just as I would be proud that my ancestor (Benjamin Franklin) discovered electricity, if I was his son or grandson, not because him and I wore glasses.

But I'm not the grandson of Ben Franklin, so I can't be proud of him discovering electricity - but by the same token he is white, and I'm white too, so we share a common bond. If Ben Franklin was not white would he have discovered electricity - probably not.

This thread reminds me of a joke my roommate made at work early this morning.

I can't remember his exact wording (which he delivered quite well)

but here it goes:

"Ya know, a lot of races have individuals who say F'd up stuff but not all members of that race are evil. So does that mean all white people are evil? YES!"

Man, I wish I could remember exactly how he put it, it was great.

NOTE:
It's an ironic joke... hopefully no one thinks I am saying whites are evil.

George Washington Carver made MONUMENTAL discoveries, and he had to accomplish HUGE racial adversity.
