I drink chamomile tea and read in bed. Reading knocks me out so fast, sometimes by the 3rd page, which makes reading a good book a very long drawn out process :bnghd:

Who needs prescripton drugs when you have kids that completely wear you out. But I do fall asleep to the tv. I never watch an entire show before I doze off. I have about 25 recorded shows, all with the last 15 minutes left to watch. I cant fall asleep or wake up to music because whatever song is on when I fall asleep or wake up is stuck in my head all day long. Insanity!

Reading does it for me. Walden will do it in two sentences and I'll be thinking about them for a week

I just usually stay awake until I can't take it anymore.

I don't personally like taking anything before bed, it gives me freaky dreams

i watch TV while wearing cordless headphones so i dont disturb the cheese n kisses with noise.

Of course i also suffer tinitis, and have been watching TV in bed for years, i used to have the radio on the 30min snooze? timer before i started using TV instead.
i find it helps distract my mind from the tinitis squeal anyway.

then at some point during the night when i awake slightly ill roll over and feel a lump under my back, remove the remote control from my bed and turn the TV off.

ive also found reading some of ATS/BTS worst threads helps, although falling asleep in front of the PC usually means your head falls forward and kinda jerks you back awake, a sure fire way to tell you its bed time

One big problem that a lot of people have is watching TV before bed. This keeps your brain active and less likely to sleep unless completely exhausted.

Well, for me, that actually is the best thing.
Ive always slept best while the TV is on.. I used to fall asleep every night with it on, I fall asleep faster that away.

But now since I share a room, I usually just listen to my radio or iPod and it works, but only have as good..

And I can't stand reading, so thats not gonna help me haha..I think I only hate reading cause it reminds me of school though, and my summer vacation just started and school is the last thing that I wanna be thinking about!! ugh!.......

Wow, that's a lot of replies, thanks everyone! Keep em coming. =D

I thought I'd add that I too do something others have mentioned (but I forgot to in my OP). I go for chamomile tea! Milk too, in a way.

I have my chamomile tea with honey and milk! I know you're not meant to have milk in it for some reason, but I did it since I was a kid, not knowing 'any better' back then... now that I do I don't want to change. =P

Plus, if chamomile AND milk both help you relax alone, together they must be some sort of super sleep remedy! Haha. Well that's my theory anyway.

I have no idea what all the 'numbers' people have been posting mean though. I assume they're some form of pharmaceutical product?
