Chicago businessman Robert Blackwell Jr. paid Obama an $8,000 a month retainer to give legal advice to his business. Part of Blackwell’s business
includes Killerspin which is basically into ping-pong equipment and tournaments. Blackwell became an Obama contributor and eventually Obama helped to
secure $320,000 in state grants for Blackwell to subsidize his company’s ping-pong tournaments.
All this happened around 2002-2004.
Obama used official state senate letterhead to get the grants for his financial contributor.
