MANAGUA, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega will visit Iran in June for talks with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to strengthen cooperation between the two sides, government officials said Sunday.
President Ortega will arrive in Iran in early June and hold talks with President Ahmadinejad on debts, aid projects and funds provided by Iran since 2007.
The two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Jan. 14, 2007 during President Ahmadinejad's visit to Nicaragua, calling for enhancing cooperation in some fields.
The memorandum also indicated that Iran would offer financial aid for Nicaragua, including the construction of ports, hydroelectric stations and irrigation systems, as well as the processing technologies of fishery and farm products.
