WHAT could be described as a fairy tale turned real on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as a cat allegedly turned into a middle-aged woman after being hit by a commercial motorcycle (Okada) on Aba/Port Harcourt Expressway.

Nigerian Tribune learnt that three cats were crossing the busy road when the okada ran over one of them which immediately turned into a woman. This strange occurrence quickly attracted people around who descended on the animals. One of them, it was learnt, was able to escape while the third one was beaten to death, still as a cat though.

I saw this and truthfully I don't know what to say. At first I thought it was a fake news site like The Onion, but it doesn't appear so. I hopped over here and was surprised no one had posted this yet. Interested on everyone's opinion

That's what the article claims, I have no idea what to make of it.

Weird man. Just weird. I don't believe this at all, but I find it very strange that the officials in Nigeria are taking any of it seriously. No wonder they think we will fall for the ' you are the benefactor of millions of dollars' scam letters they send me every day! They even send them out addressed now as being from the UN!

There was a film festival in London last fall, I think it's annual but not sure. The festival is for small time productions and individuals and you can probably guess what kind of movies came out of that.

Anyways, amongst these were also "big" African productions, with large casts and so forth. Many of these films had black magic as a theme, people turning into this and that, devils, sacrificings etc.
The director mentioned that these kind of things are very popular amongst many Africans and that they actually believe in it. So these movies that almost seemed like comedy or spoof to me was presented as horror O_o
Unfortunately I can't remember the countries presented at the festival but Nigeria and Uganda etc. were definately amongst.

So when I read this I couldn't help thinking "please get out of the dark ages people"... (aimed at the article)

Was the cat already wearing a bra and pants before it morphed into a woman?

Or did those pieces of clothing materialize after the morphing?

I think what is more likely is this women was chasing after the cats and was struck after running into the road. Then, the superstitious people there said she was one of the cats having seen the others run off.

Reminds me of something like The Crucible.

I think the driver didn't want to go to jail for hitting a woman so the story is made up. Voodoo is probably going on over there, so it's easy to go supernatural. Maybe soon after she's been hit, they made a pact that she says that she was a cat on a mission or else.

......but then again...who knows

LOL yeah I also get them, I'm suprised at how long and detailed they make it, but yet sounds so fake and funny, lol. Waste of time haha.

I don't understand why people continue to believe in superstition. The woman is obviously injured by the looks of the photo and the mob would have killed her anyway if the police didn't intervene. If these people really wanted answers to explain the supernatural and further study the woman and the second of three alleged cat people, they should have not beaten to death one of the cats, which surprisingly didn't morph into a human.

Only in Nigeria could someone come up with an alibi such as this and be believed. So this woman was not only the victim of a hit and run cyclist she almost became the victim of a superstitious mob! Mankind has a long way to go.

When I read the description, I was expecting some hot, sexy black woman, in a leather cat suit.

Because the movies are made not to be like real life.

Unfortunately, superstition is still very strong in some places, during the civil war in Moçambique (or Mozambique for the English speaking members ) some people were convinced that they could fight without being hit by bullets because they were protected by charms made by the witchdoctors.

Here's a recent thread with like-mindedness of believability, or seriousness, or whatever word you wish to fill-in-the-blank with . . .

We have Grays, Reptillians, and Bigfoot . . . why not a cat-woman? Maybe this particle/wave-based reality of ours has some secrets most folk just don't get, yet.

First of all: stories like this are neither uncommon, nor unique to Nigeria (take note, Ameneter).
Secondly: I could tell you stories that might rival the sensational one you have encountered here -- which took place in that same country.

But I won't.

The world is full of seemingly ludicrous tales: Grays, Reptilians, Aliens, or a Universe that exists only because humans are in it. For me, this is just another one of those. It can't be accurately understood unless one has all the details of the situation. Right now, all I find are reports from eye-witnesses who, amongst other things, beat a cat to death.

In conclusion -- and I state this as a Nigerian -- there is nothing to make of this. Not until you can explain what ghosts are.

All I can add is that there seems to be to much belief in the supernatural in Africa to allow reality a chance to be considered.
This reminds me of the stories of the witches that were killed due to so-called reports of men experiencing their manhood falling off or shrinking in size.
I guess if enough people are told they same stories over and over again then they are bound to believe it.
