Some interesting bands I've come across:

Misery Signals, Holiday Unheard Of, A Skylit Drive, Story of the Year, All that Remains, Crash Parallel, Hedley, Nightwish, We the Kings

...not all of those bands are screamo, but the majority are, and the ones which aren't screamo are good nonetheless.

Enjoy!

I was never much into screaming until a couple of years ago, when a band called As I Lay Dying got me hooked on it. Since then, Atreyu (the older stuff, not the new stuff), Lamb of God, Cradle of Filth, Killswitch Engage, and Arch Enemy have seen pretty constant rotation on my CD player. Most of these guys are signed to major labels, so I'm sorry if I couldn't help too much with the "underground" stuff.

I'm not really familiar with the various genres of comtemporary popular music, but does this qualify as "screamo?"

Actually, the lead singer is a good friend of mine and while I hate his music, he's a really smart young man with a quick wit, an incredible work ethic, and whose band is gaining in popularity locally.

Well I am part of a pretty decent screamo band.... Well we aren't straight screamo and the stuff here is more radio friendly, but check it out... The GBC

Other than that, I'd say my favorite at the moment is Alesana and Akissforjersey. Both of those bands play some of the best screamo out there right now. I also like Alexisonfire, Reggie and the Full Effect, and Glassjaw (actually that isn't really the same genre).

Check all those out, my vote is that you'll like akissforjersey the best..

Much Love,
Jace

ALEXISONFIRE!

start with them by all means.

but otherwise:
Underoath
The Bled
Who Calls So Loud..
Fear Before The March Of Flames
Circle Takes The Square
Glassjaw
Her Words Kill
The Number Twelve Looks Like You
The Devil Wears Prada
These Arms Are Snakes

I've stuck to exclusively screamo here
havent really taken in metalcore / 'deathcore' or anything further than that.

Pianos Become The Teeth - www.youtube.com...

They're not quite Screamo, leaning more towards the Post-Hardcore genre - great band though!
