This competition deserves to die on its arse. I speak as a viewer for most of the
last 30 years (or more - I can remember Abba).

Now, with the UK having come joint last I realise that will look like a severe case of sour grapes, but not so.

The UK has done badly in the past, and deservedly so, but the voting pattern these days is a travesty.

There has always been political voting, Scandinavian countries voting for each other, Greece and Cyprus, UK and Ireland, etc etc, but even so the best song generally won, if not always.

Now however the winner is seemingly determined by which countries get through the semi's and who there mates are, nothing to do with music.

IMHO, Greece should have won last night, but the Russian entry was limp.

Sweden and Ukraine was wearing the exact same dress (oh, horror)! Ani Lorak (Karolina) was better looking in it, and also had a better performance. Sweden was expected by many to make at least top-5 position, but ended up as number 18 with only 47 points. Here's Ukraine:

RussiaToday: Eurovision result upsets British anchor

Britain's Eurovision anchor Terry Wogan said the victory of Russian singer Dima Bilan in the song contest in Belgrade was politically motivated and has called for a change in the competition's rules.
