5000 points just for joining the ATS feed on twitter?

I have just joined yesterday also (many thanks for my points asala ) However I am unsure as to how I update my status or add a message to my feed. Do I have to keep trashing the one I have and adding a new one ?

Jaded, you just click home,

then you will see a box, Just type in there, You do have to refresh to see any new messages, Anyone you follow.. there messages will show up there,

so if i join twitter and don't bother with it ever again i still get 5000 points ?


i'm being honest here. don't want to lie and say that i'll be on there doing whatever it is that twitterers (?) do.

Also the ATS feed has all the latest threads linked so you can keep up to date if you like,

It's gaining popularity in many circles, especially since it integrates mobile devices, IM, and email into the mix. To many, this might seem excessive, if MySpace were coffee, Twitter is like crystal meth in comparison! But then... it hit me... the genius of something like Twitter may not be what one person is thinking/saying/doing, it's more likely going to be what a large group of like-minded people are saying, doing, thinking, and hoping for.

As you can see, we've developed a method to automatically feed Twitter new topics that quickly generate several replies. We've been at it for a couple days as part of our initial test.

And as you can also see, a few astute ATS members have noticed our Tweets (that's what a Twitter update is called) and have decided to follow our updates, and we're following them. The resulting with-friends page is an aggregate list of everyone's tweets.

Hrm... now that is where ATS can take this concept and push it someplace truly different.




The AboveTopSecret.com Firehose Of Consciousness on Twitter


Imagine, if you will, an AboveTopSecret.com & Friends Twitter page with dozens, or even hundreds of ATS members providing one or two tweets a day, along with the regular hot new topics. This becomes especially valuable if your contributions are meaningful and not the typical "waiting for pizza dude" type tweets that seem to be prevalent. We'd end up with a running relevant commentary of what's important to us for all the world to see. A firehose of what we think, as we're thinking it.




Starting The Experiment


To encourage our members to join and participate with relevant tweets, just do one of the following:

1) Already On Twitter? Follow our page, then U2U me with your Twitter username.

2) Join Twitter With Your ATS Username then follow our page

3) If your ATS Username is taken on Twitter use a different name to join Twitter, follow us, then U2U me your username

We'll award ATS members that follow our page with 5,000 ATS points. (Not to worry, membership in Twitter requires a minimum of information.)

If all goes well, the ATS & Friends page will be a stunning stream of consciousness on a fast-rising social network.

You do not HAVE to give them your mobile number.
It´s optional.

OK, I just joined......but I used the twitter page to join, not the ATS twitter page.....

I tried the ATS page first, but it said that my username was already taken ( not wanting the confusion of another name, I backed out and went to look up this other 'frayed1' on twitter).....but the twitter page showed that my name was available, so I joined through it??

Hope that's just as good!! Looks interesting.......

And, I've sent SO a U2U.....is that all I need to do??

Well any worth that the ATS point system had for me, is now gone. Too bad for that. I kind of used it to gauge the respectability of certain posters. Though it was far from being a perfect way to do so, I did figure that those who spout nothing but crap probably don't last long enough to acquire significant points. Maybe I am wrong and the points have always been a lousy way to measure contribution and perhaps people think I spout nothing but crap as well. To each their own but I smell a sell out.

We have a Feed on Twitter thats all, And we want our members to know about it, So giving out some points is a good way to do so,

On twitter all the latest thread on ATS are listed, and updated every few mins,

There is many ways on ATS that points can be earned "pod casts" ect

looking at the quality of a members post in a much better measure

I joined Twitter but have no idea if I got any points. I almost feel bad over the point count I have. I honestly am starting to believe they should offer you a T-Shirt for every 250,000 points so the members could wipe the points off their profile and give them motivation to keep contributing and building the points back up.

Points have become a dysfunctional part of the system. They mean nothing, even though their original intent was to motivate.

If I could get a mod to reset my points to zero, That might just be the motivation I need to write the story on gene copyrighting that is turning each and every one of us into the property of the big Pharma corporations. Then I could submit it to ATS premium and get paid cash. Screw the points.

I can't even remember the last time I spent any.
