In Speech Before Israeli Parliament, Bush Compares Democrats To 'Nazi Appeasers'

thinkprogress.org

While delivering an address before the Israeli parliament commemorating the 60th anniversary of Israel, President Bush said that Sen. Barack Obama and Democrats favor a policy of appeasement toward terrorists. CNN reports that Bush was comparing Obama to “other U.S. leaders back in the run-up to World War II who appeased the Nazis.”

In his speech, Bush said, “As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: ‘Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.’ We have an obligation to call this what it is – the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.”

This coming from the most fascist, near-dictator war monger the states has ever seen. This coming from the guy who has literally genocided Iraq himself. This coming from the guy who has shredded the constitution and pissed all over his fellow countrymen's civil liberties at every turn.

So then.... if the democrats sympathize with YOU, Mr. War-monger, then they are STILL like Nazi-appeasists!

Stop pushing for more wars! We all know what you and your war-profiteering cronies are up to!

President Bush may want to take up his head-in-the-sand views with his own Defense Secretary. Just yesterday, Robert Gates said the U.S. needs to “sit down and talk with” Iran:

“We need to figure out a way to develop some leverage…and then sit down and talk with them,” Gates said. “If there is going to be a discussion, then they need something, too. We can’t go to a discussion and be completely the demander, with them not feeling that they need anything from us.”

I am so fricking sick of this simplton. I swear the man gets dumber every time he opens his mouth.

He is nothing short of a social embarrassment for this country.

Good one Dubya.

Appeasement ay?
I think the more glaring example of this is giving a tyrannical dictator; chemical precursors to make Nerve Gas and Anthrax knowing full well he's at war with another nation and is planning to suppress ethnic rebellion in his own country.

All because America happened to dislike that particular nation he was at war with so hey... why not give him a few pointers while he's at it? A pat on the back of encouragement? And a few "dual-use" components won't hurt anybody....

Another smart move brought to you by the CIA folks
.
And a warm thank you goes out to the US Intelligence Community ladies and gentlemen!

Then 20 or so years down the track, America invades that same dictator's country on the pretext of removing the same friggin' dangerous weapons which America in all it's infinite wisdom gave him.

Like father, like son...
Maybe Darwin was wrong, nature doesn't weed out the nimrods.

Any time people refuse to take up arms against others who violate agreed upon social norms of the original pacifist group in question, they can be compared to Nazi appeasers.

Lots of people who didn't support slavery during the American Civil War were against the war. You could argue that those people were in effect pro-slavery.

And yes GW is a fool. He makes us look, well, just about as stupid as we are collectively. Just turn of the TV. Considering the target demographic of 99% of programming as any indicator of mass interest and concern, we collectively make GW look like a genius.

It's pretty damn funny because that quote came from a Republican Senator. And George's Granddad Prescott was this country's most notorious Nazi appeaser and financier. Just the fact that that man was able to use his wealth and power to manipulate his son into the Presidency just 40 years later, and his grandson a dozen years later, should prove that this country is being run with a secret agenda.

I'm guessing he's been back on the sauce, and maybe some nose-candy, for some time now. Too bad there's a lot of "distinguished individuals" on this site who still agree with him.

Man, I am just counting the days........

This from a man whose family has dubious ties to Nazi Germany and who has brought facism to our own country, while he is speaking to Israeli leaders who are operating their own quasi-concentration camp in Gaza. Even George Orwell could not make this stuff up.

There is a big difference here, however: The American Civil War was within our own borders, fought to determine the course our nation would take for the foreseeable future. What Bush is referring to is people who disagree with his policy of preemptive war against nations that have not attacked us (a War Crime), torture, "extraordinary rendition", and the end of Habeus Corpus.

Iraq did not attack us. Iran has not attacked us and, by all accounts, has no plans to (reports of Iranian-made weapons in Iraqi insurgent hands have proven false). Afghanistan didn't even actually attack us; bin Laden hides now in Pakistan and we gave up the hunt for him years ago.

If any country is currently acting like Nazi Germany it's the United States.

You've got that right.

Holy Cow! There is some WONDERFUL brands of de-caffinated coffee on the market today.

Genocide on Iraq? Bush has systematically killed off an entire group of people because of their race/religion?

Shredded the Constitution? Pissed on Civil Liberties? What Civil Liberties have been lost? Name one...
Speech?
Right to gather?
Freedom of Religion?

Bush's "war-mongering profiteers?"

Man, I can't imagine looking at the U.S. governmenet this way. I believe it is your duty to overthrow the "war-mongering profiteers" and replace them with who you believe is true leaders. Go on. If this is the governement, you MUST do it. You are just as guilty as they are if you let them exist. Or are you just a sad, lonely person?

BTW, talking to people who want to kill you ususally gets you killed. So Democrats ARE appeasers.

Puhleeese.

Nazi is like using the other N word.

When you are ready to pull off the gloves and fight with no holds barred.

It is a good way to insure wide press coverage and a lot of the same anti-USA thread hits on ATS. Especially as we draw near to the election's final desperate dash.

For grins type a google search on "nazi" and see who is using it.

Bush hates Islam. Except, of course, for the Saudis who have their hands up his rear.

Shredded the Constitution?

He DID call it "just a G**-Damned peice of paper".

Pissed on Civil Liberties? What Civil Liberties have been lost? Name one...
Speech?

People are getting tasers in the gut for speaking. Haven't you noticed?

Right to gather?

In "free-speech zones" ringed with riot cops in full gear far out of eyesight of the Pres, because he can't handle the idea that so many Americans disagree with him.

Freedom of Religion?

Bush (and now McCain) pander to Christian extremists.

And, there's the Fourth Amendment, now violated through the reading of our mail, the tracking of our email and bank transactions, the tapping of our phones, and Internet tracking. No-knock warrants.

Removal of Habeus Corpus.

The right to legal representation. Extraordinary rendition. It's a pretty big list, actually. Kinda surprised you haven't seen it yet.

Bush's "war-mongering profiteers?"

In WW2 Truman took the war suppliers to task for profiting while American soldiers were dying. Why are they allowed to profit now, if the war is just?

Man, I can't imagine looking at the U.S. governmenet this way.

Considering you can't even spell "government" right I'm not surprised.

I believe it is your duty to overthrow the "war-mongering profiteers" and replace them with who you believe is true leaders. Go on. If this is the governement, you MUST do it. You are just as guilty as they are if you let them exist.

I prefer voting them out (assuming the voting isn't rigged, like the last two times).

Or are you just a sad, lonely person?

That's funny. Most conservatives know are friendless, largely because they don't see "friends", they see rivals for things they want.

BTW, talking to people who want to kill you ususally gets you killed. So Democrats ARE appeasers.

Ah yes, diplomacy=appeasement. Well then, it's YOUR duty to go straight to the Recruitment Center, join the Army and go straight to Iraq! If you believe in warfare as the answer to all foreign policy issues why aren't you on the front line RIGHT NOW?? Or are you just another Chickenhawk?

Wow,

You and Dimensional Detective can get a room togethet at the Anti American Inn. I heard they are serving paranoia tonight.

Who is getting tasered?

Riot Police well out of sight? The other name for that is "Not There."

How can you "vote out" a "war-mongering" genocidal government? Your duty as a human being is to help those being oppressed/killed/tasered in the gut.

Wow, you've been guzzling your kool-aid by the gallons homie. In fact, you've been waterboarded by it. Glad you think everything's hunky dory.

You have some SERIOUS reading and homework to do if you're serious with these ignorant responses. No excuse for anyone to be that clueless at this stage of the game.

Wake the hell up.

Even more attacks! Can you possibly try to refute any of my points with documented FACTS, please?

Who is getting tasered?

The "Don't Taze Me Bro" kid, for one.

Riot Police well out of sight? The other name for that is "Not There."

Can you not read?

In "free-speech zones" ringed with riot cops in full gear far out of eyesight of the Pres, because he can't handle the idea that so many Americans disagree with him.

That means the PROTESTERS are the ones being cordoned off and kept out of sight, with riot cops just waiting for an excuse to beat their heads in. What part of that did you not get?

How can you "vote out" a "war-mongering" genocidal government?

By voting out the leaders who make the decisions to commit atrocities and replacing them with people who FOLLOW THE LAW and use diplomacy instead of force. That's how democracy works.

Your duty as a human being is to help those being oppressed/killed/tasered in the gut.

I am, in a civilized fashion. What have you done today?

You follow the news much?

The US is attacked daily in Iraq and Afghanistan. Or do you also like to wrap a blindfold around your head extra tight to block out all the bad news and "anti-Western" propaganda?

I don't ask that you "agree". I DEMAND that you Deny Ignorance and at least glance at the vidence before rushing to the standard "limp wristed liberals" BS.

2553 days since the U.S. has been attacked. Why?

It's long and complicated to explain it to you, and since you wouldn't pay attention anyway and would just come back with more of the same without looking at facts and evidence there's no point.

We are over there so they are over there. Get it?

I am truly saddened that any American still buys this. You're really that scared of "terrorists", when you have a higher chance of dying by slipping in your bathtub? Man, such cowardice.

And Obama Responds

"It is sad that President Bush would use a speech to the Knesset on the 60th anniversary of Israel's independence to launch a false political attack," Obama said in the statement his aides distributed. "George Bush knows that I have never supported engagement with terrorists, and the president's extraordinary politicization of foreign policy and the politics of fear do nothing to secure the American people or our stalwart ally Israel."
