I think a UFO is just something that is unidentified in the air.
The most generic definition of an Unidentified Flying Object, or UFO, is any flying object or phenomenon that cannot be identified by the observer. Various studies show that after investigation, the majority of UFOs are usually identified, and are relabeled IFOs or Identified Flying Objects. Therefore, some stricter definitions reserve the label "UFO" for only those instances where the objects remain unexplained after a proper investigation
sometimes we need to. I have discussed and will continue to discuss the bad wrap that people get when they report a UFO. But, we must remember that the acronym UFO means exactly what it is an abbreviation for, and nothing more or less. This really is important when one begins to delve into the mass of reports that are made on a daily basis. If an object is seen flying, and the person seeing it does not know what it is, it is a UFO to them, at least on a temporary basis. Now, when the report is analyzed by one in the know, the status of unknown may change.
If it is identified then you could say it is a IFO, or identified flying object. Unfortunately, not every case can have a conclusive tag given to it. It is true that the majority of UFO reports are eventually identified as something everyday and explainable. But, there is always that small percentage that falls through the scientific cracks.
