I see the gnome thing in the picture!!! Sorta what mine looked like, but i dont think it had a beard....i only saw the front of it for a split second, then it turned away and ran....maybe it was looking for its socks, or maybe it didnt want me to know it had smelly feet....hmmm...

Sure I do. It's like Mojo Nixon said, "Elvis is everywhere."

Oh wait, elves noy Elvis. No, they aren't real. At least I don't think so. Elvis on the other hand, he's real.

That's a yard gnome porcelin thing in that picture IMO. (I see it.) But as for real elves, Katie Couric is darn close.

Never had the elf thing per se, though I've definitely seen "things"... more like Terrence McKenna's machine elves (search ats) than happy little Leprachauns.

And Ghosts...LOTS of ghosts as a kid in the same sort of matter of fact acceptance as you experienced, then recalled as an adult. I think/hope though I'm just remembering vivid recurring dreams from childhood.

Read about drug induced visions of MACHINE ELVES if you like: www....-------------------------/library/bio/mad-science/terence-mckenna/

Hitler called them GREMLINS! They tinker yaknow. And are linked to the date 12/21/2012 some say.

This is getting weird. It's SOOOO obvious. And there's a damn circle around it!

Hmmm... maybe only SOME people are supposed to see elves.

He's behind the rock...

There are several examples of little people or elves being seen by various people.
There have been are many accounts and a few photographs of encounters with tiny humanoids. This is one example:
I don't know the origin of the picture, but it is very thought provoking.

A lot of people believe they are creatures that exist in a parallel universe. There is a condition called Charles-Bonnet Syndrome, which allows some to see, among other things, little people.

People with Charles Bonnet Syndrome (or "Bonnet-people") are otherwise mentally sound. The beings appear when the Bonnet-people's vision deteriorates as a result of eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration -- or when patients have had both eyes removed. Charles Bonnet Syndrome is more common in older people with a high level of education.

Bonnet-people report that they see apparitions resembling distorted faces, costumed figures, ghosts, and little people.

Most Bonnet-people see beings wearing hats. For example, one very sane woman was sitting quietly at home when she suddenly saw several two-inch-high, stovepipe-hat-wearing chimney sweeps parading in front of her. She tried to catch one, but could not. Her only medical problem was that she had poor sight due to macular degeneration.
sprott.physics.wisc.edu...

Interestingly, most people who take the hallucinogen '___', claim to enter some kind of parallel world, commonly called the "'___' dome", where they see and interact with what Terence McKenna calls "machine elves" or "tykes". The most amazing thing about this is that they all share the same experience, regardless of whether or not they are aware of what others have seen.

"...U.S. government researchers in the 90s discover that '___' is released in the pineal gland in your brain every night around 4 a.m. (source of reports of alien abduction, anyone?) and also released in the brain by the developing fetus at 48 days - triggering the first measurable thought processes..."

Perhaps as children, we experience a greater concentration of the naturally produced '___'. It may be what allows us to see and experience things which adults, normally, cannot.

"They are - the word that comes to mind is: they are Zany. It's like a Bugs Bunny cartoon, uh, gone mad. And all of this energy - they are elves. This is what elves are. It's this weird thing, where they love you - or they like you a lot, but you can tell that their sense of humor is Weird. And that you must be very careful of the deals you cut with these things. and and in fact I've spent so much time trying to understand what is this.

What do they want? What do I have that they want?... They're meme traders, is what it is. And I think that what they wanted, and got, and took - without bothering to even say a word about it - was everything I knew about the "I Ching". And they're like art collectors. They say "well, the idea is primitive, and primitive in its execution, but with a certain kind of internal integrity that one really must respect..." So they're primitive art collectors , and what they left me with, then, was, uh, my own, you know, their model of time. Which is the closest thing to one of these hyperdimensional objects. The objects themselves cannot exist in this world. But the blueprints of them can... "
www.brainmachines.com...

Personally, I see no reason to believe that they do not or cannot exist. I would love to meet one sometime, but I doubt they exist anywhere that is very populated or developed. Most sightings occur in wild and wooded places, that aren't frequented by many people. It's pretty cool you got to see one!

Just a thought, but I always had a feeling that elves might have arisen from the far off contact of Western Europe with Asia. Magic, nice clothes, closeness to nature, exotic foods and buildings, and the exotic looks of asians (well compared to your local Europeans). I'm sure it's not the true answer, but I seem to remember reading that the Europeans believed "fairyland" was in the East...no idea where I saw that or even if it is true.

I'd much rather meet Tolkein's elves...though they are tad stuck up.

I remember reading somewhere that Pixies originated as the Scythians and migrated to Western Europe at the same time as the Celts (who originally came from India and the surrounding areas).

With my name, it would be strange if I didn't believe in the little people.

A friend of the family used to work in an old pub and had a room in the building. Each night he would creep downstairs when the landlord was asleep and have a few glasses of whiskey. If the shortfall was noticed, he would have a laugh and blame the Cluricaun. Then one night when he came for his drink, he heard something in the cellar and thought the cat had got locked in. So he went down and switched on the light but there was nothing there. But when he went back upstairs, the door was closed and he couldn't open it. He was stuck there all night until the landlord woke in the morning and let him out

Maybe it was the Cluricaun getting his own back.
