We agree on much having to do with the fallacy of the Catholic Church. I can't wait until the day all of the popes stands before God and all he says is "I rebuke thee"...

Slightly off but related, there is a line of thought that there were more than 10 but Moses picked the 10 he liked most or suited him best. Once the tablet were broken who would be able to argue?

The Bible says that God wrote the Ten Commandments with His finger onto stone tablets. When Moses broke those in anger, God replaced them with another set.

I love Moses.

I know he must have been angry about the whole idolatry thing, with God being right there, and all, but to smash the tablets God himself made and gave to you...judging by the OT God, that's just suicide!

God: "You did what? You broke the commandments I made to you?"
Moses: "Well, I didn't actually break the commandments, I only broke the tablets, it was the other people who broke the commandments!"
God: "Well, in that case I will have to write the commandments down again. But this time you'll provide me with a new set of stone tablets!"
