I gave up on discrete vitamn A gels years ago as I noticed a subtle decay in the fucntioning of my mind (!) that ceased once I stopped taking them. Also I go easy on the B complex.

Wow. The title is a little bit harsh. Look, vitamins are not magic. These are different molecules that body needs for different functions. If there are not enough of these - the functions this vitamin is responsible for fail. Since our body "knows" these molecules there are special pathways of production interaction and "neutralization" of them - thus in normal concentrations they are by far less problematic then foreign substances, such as medications.
However if they are taken in excessive amounts body cannot cope with them any better then with foreign medications because there simply more molecules of vitamin then there are of their "targets" and vitamins are dealt with the same general system that deals with all foreign chemicals.
And since vitamins are biologically active - which means they interact with our body and our body responds - if it response in excess it is also bad.
I definitely disagree that vitamins kill as long as they are not taken in much much higher then normal concentration. But there are people who make "vitamins" sound like a magical solution and the more - the better.
The human body is NOT designed to cope with vitamins in the form of tablets on a daily basis.

It is certainly much LESS designed to cope with the chemical compounds that medical practitioners push as the primary - or even the only - "cure" for diseases, even though they (coupled with other traditional treatments and with neglect or misdiagnosing, pure and simple) have been shown to kill hundreds of thousands of patients every year.
(In fact, the medical establishment is one of the leading causes of death, according to the relevant Harvard and other studies on iatrogenic death.)
And yet, they keep pushing them...
Peace right back at you.
