Why don't Aliens make direct contact with us If they exist?

Or could it be that the only other life out there that has made contact with us is... human? Who's to say that Humans didn't colonise the galaxy thousands of years ago with Earth being one of many colonies. If they have visited us, then the genuine UFO sightings could indeed be piloted by Humans.. just humans from a different planet. That way they could be working with our governments and the public would be none the wiser

EDIT -This leads me to this question... did we humans destroy dinosoaurs so that we could safely colonise Earth... i feel a new thread coming on.

probably a "you cant talk to them till they talk to you(or start screwing with the space around you)" sort of thing
but im sure as soon as we start screwing with stuff that affects them them will be on us like flees on a dog

as i can see it..... religons around the world... slightly contradict them selfs... slowly and more slowly during the up coming years they change the "rules" a bit. onc they look inside the bible. "or holy book" it says one thing but then they change it to another... human race is a very self indulgent race.... we as a race.. are very low and if we do make conyact it may as well be around the years 2012 and on... as i see it... sometimes we are soo inferior that we belive in sumthing like "god" ppl please listen... way back in earie civilizations .. we werent like 2 day.. an immature race... aliens have probly did make contact and maybe said "we will return one day" so maybe those civilizaions ket waiting for that day to come.. and soo on in history time passes and we still look up into the sky as we are waiting for sumthing to come.. notice how ppl say "god is up there" or "heaven is up there" but we will all find out soon that we were all talking abt aliens... who knows if we al ready contacted them... and the stupid goverment is keeping a secret.. its good and bad.. 1 good is because to prevent global panic.. and bad beacsue there hiding the truth.. and maybe the goverment wants to "cut" down the size of the human race... these are just my thoughts and no disrespect to anyone.. ^.^

MY PERSONAL BELIEF:

They could have laws preventing to meddle with the human creatures. Those aliens that are witnessed are breaking the law.

Many speculative reasons, however they probably are monitoring our development (which I believe was interfered/enhanced by them in ancient times) so now they're just seeing how the ball rolls. That doesn't say that might not at one time intervene. ETs have to know the value of life, and foreign sentient life at that. They'd most likely make an effort to keep us around, and most importantly our planet. They know we don't have to fail and continually war among another, so I see them at some point offering aid or optional guidance, for those willing to take it.

Everything will be Hell if they reveal themselfs to Us, they are 57 race type aliens (Nope, I do not know them ALL) they beef witheachother this world will have a serious extermination apacolepse. Let me give you a metaphor.

Would humans living in our societies travel to the Amazonian jungle to interact with ants?

Why would we? Sure they are interesting critters and are capable of intriguing physical feats, but can they help us? They exist but are not capable of communicating with us in what we deem to be a rational fashion. They simply exist, multiply, and coexist with their surroundings. They may travel to and from the jungle, but for the most part they will all live and die in the same ecosystem in which they were conceived. We know they are there, but they serve no purpose in terms of our own progression as a civilization. Therefore, we have no rational reason for interacting with them on a daily basis.

Apply this logic to the extraterrestrial community and what do we have? Oh... I know...a perfectly suitable metaphor! As humans we are essentially bound to this planet and are simply managing our immediate resources to continue existing. Sure, a few of us may come and go from this planet, but currently we cannot go any further than our own moon. We are rational beings, but I'm sure our language and interactive ability are far inferior to any beings capable of reaching our planet by virtue of translated logic. We are trapped in our own ecosystem, are generally unaware of happenings outside of it, and lack the ability to make a legitimate contribution to any of those who are observing us.

We are, in fact, ants in our cosmos.

yes,although there are so many webs about alien,self excliam witness.but until now there are noone prove the exist of alien definitly.

Please don't take this as being sarcastic, but only as a reference of higher intelligence dealing with lesser intelligence. Have you ever attempted to make contact with a cockroach and explain your presence?

Their communication may be too different from ours. A couple of people make the point that we don't attempt to communicate with ants, I'd say we WOULD if we could.

Personally, I believe there are so many layers to this world it's hard to put in words.

There are aliens, some are and have interacted with us, while others are merely watching if paying any attention.

I'm beginning to fear that we should FEAR any alien civilization contacting us! What could they possibly gain from it?
