Perhaps you would like to fill us in and tell us exactly what happened and how it ended up going through their roof?

and secondly do you have proof that it is your object, what it came off, how it happened???

You need to have proof instead of saying "oh it's mine" otherwise who is going to believe you?

Well done mate:

I would like to hear someone's else opinion on this one:
i have some doubts about both its size and its shape, despite it looks to be identical:
but this may depend by the different angle you took the photo.

I came to the conclusion that the writing on the object ended in LSBURY rightly or wrongly but it did not help me identify it.

It is one of those things that really should not matter to me but now I really want to know what it is.

i am not trying to deceive anyone, to be honest i am not that clever!!!!

but i will share the full story with you after i sell it, its a bit embarrassing but the people that know how it happened can see the funny side of it.

stuatwhakatu, NO ONE is blaming you to deceive anyone

This is a conspiracy site, and it's normal that we check every possible issue in everyone's account.
In my opinion, the object is the same, and even if it wouldn't be the object which crashed on the roof of that home, it's definately the same component:
this IS enough for me in order to be convinced that you will share the explanation to this mystery. Besides, the idea to sell it in order to repair the roof is amazing.
So please, don't get it as a personal attack:

we suffer many attempts of hoaxes here: i trust you.

A short update

UFO might be wood splitter - and it's yours for $750
20.05.2008 - by GRANT HARDING

The unidentified flying object that smashed through the roof of a Whakatu house in mid-April is for sale on TradeMe.

Hawke's Bay Today spoke this morning to the owner of the so-called UFO, who let a top bid of $655 lapse on Saturday. The reserve was $750, which the man said he intended to give to the Cunningham family, the owners of the damaged house.

The man lives just two doors down from the Cunninghams. Trading under the name stuatwhakatu, he initially denied all knowledge of the event.

I'll tell you nothing,' he said, but added he would speak if the newspaper came up with $750.

Then while working in a workshop at the back of his house on Station Road, he said

the story's not that interesting.

But a police spokesman, Sergeant Bob Gordon, said he had heard that the 1kg, cast-iron plate with the name Seley on it came from a wood splitter.

On TradeMe, Stu has advertised

This is the genuine `UFO' that made international news after smashing through the roof and ceiling of a house in Whakatu (7km out of Hastings).

It has had officials and scientists scratching their heads as to what it came off and how it came to punch a hole through someone's roof.

Well I know what it came off and how it happened, and the only other person that will know this will be the winner of this auction.

And all proceeds of the auction will be going to the owner of the house that ended up with a hole in his roof to help with the repair costs.

The advertisement had attracted nearly 13,000 views.

Helen Cunningham said her neighbour had visited her husband, George, about `three weeks' after the incident, saying he would pay for the damage but George had told him insurance was covering the cost of repairs.

Clive Constable Alan Daly was on leave and unavailable to comment on how the object was returned to its place of origin and why the solving of the mystery had not been made public.

655.00 NZD = 507.676 USD
1 NZD = 0.775078 USD
1 USD = 1.29019 NZD

So, the pic sent to us was not the original and perhaps was off the trademe sellers wood cutter machine. Knowing that now, the object must of broke of the trademe sellers wood cutter while in operation and dropped through the neighbors roof. Feeling a little obligated, seller of the so called ufo object wished to make good to thy neighbor on his accident.

Just my opinion.

Your right it has already been identified as a henge from a cargo container so its not a UFO.

Maybe it should be in the 'Alternative Breaking News' section?

I also have worked with these type of containers before and will have to disagree with your assesment.

I also disagree. It is part of a wheel or brake assembly. Judging by the arc, the wheel would be from 2 to 3 feet in diameter.
